I am having a hard time with an arcane swordsman type charac

Post » Mon Dec 17, 2012 4:50 pm

I planned on using heavy armor and dual wielding, but not improving my gear with smithing. Instead, I would use alteration and restoration to help me survive, with some enchanting.

Anyway, I obviously need a lot of health and stamina for this type of character, but the spells I need cost so much that I cannot use them - even if I have the reduction perk for that spell level. Advice please? The only thing I can seem to play in Skyrim is a plain boring warrior, or a stealthy character which I do not enjoy at all. It is making me hate the game a little bit.

Magicka issues? I suggest the Aronach Stone.

Don't hate the game. Hate the player.

Also, a little more info would help.

Race? Level? General tactics, etc?

I am using bound swords, and there is a bug with that stone that makes conjuration fail about 50% of the time.

Skyrim is the first Elder Scrolls game that I cannot play as a magic user of any kind.

Race: Dunmer
Level: 14
General Tactics: fight with dual bound swords, and use healing spells to heal, wards to shield against magicka, and alteration to help out as well.

However, I cannot use wards or flesh spells at all.

If you can get enchanting up to 50 or 60 with three or four perks you should be able to reduce the cost for one magicka school in half with four grand soul gems. Use weapons that have soul trap enchantment and do a ton of enchanting.

I thought it was just destruction that svcked in Skyrim, but it is the magic system as a whole. I don't need smithing to be an effective warrior. I don't need alchemy to be an effective assassin. I do need enchanting to be maybe half decent with magic. There is something wrong there.
