A few observations on my Stormcloak playthrough

Post » Mon Jan 07, 2013 10:31 pm

Yesterday, I started a topic in this forum asking for people to convince me to join the Stormcloaks (I've played as a member of the Imperial Legion in every playthrough thus far). Although the topic got way off of the initial discussion, a few of the posters convinced me to re-roll my dragonborn, and side with the Stormcloaks. Initially, I was not sure if I was going to like it or not, but after only the first few in-game hours I knew I had been dumb for not even at least trying the Stormcloak side out in previous playthroughs.

Overall, the biggest difference I've noticed so far is in the way they treat each other, and an overall feeling of "togetherness". They seem to truly have a "group" mentality, and each one treats the other as if they are a brother, or sister. Also, something I admire about them is that they are straight to the point. They are open and honest about what they want. I never realized the Imperials weren't this way, until playing the first mission alone escaping Helgen with Ralof. The Imperials all seem to look down on you, or at least make you feel like you're inferior. I'm aware that the Stormcloaks act the same way towards all other races that aren't Nords, but since I play as a Nord that is a non-issue for me.

Any of the members from the previous topic posted yesterday that want to chime in, feel free to. But PLEASE don't let it warp into another A vs B thread again. That thing spiraled out of control quicker than I expected lol.

The Imperials seem this way because they're here strictly to do a job and go home. The non-nords anyway. The Stormcloaks are in their hme fighting to change their nation. Naturally the rebels will have a bigger sense of togetherness when the group mentality isn't "Grrr put down the rebel insurrectionists!"

Know what I mean?

Maybe the nords of the legionaries act the same way because they're among the imperials who they share no kinship with, and just adopted that feeling of "lets fight and get this over with then go home."

Eh I personally did not feel I was looked down upon during my imperial runs. Well they are soldiers and most rpg games I join the soldier like faction normally.
