Skyrim bugs, still not fixed in this expansion

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 12:44 am

1) Alteration Ritual Spell:

Sent to high gate ruins. I previously killed that dragon priest there, of course.

the area you go to, to get the item for the alteration Ritual quest, is BEHIND
THE GATE THAT WON'T OPEN.

They did not fix this in Dawnguard, the patch before dawnguard,
nor in this expansion/patch.

Threads mention glitching in with a platter/whatever, through the gate.
I've never managed to get that to work.

How HARD could that BUG be to fix? Program in that if the
guy is dead the gate STAYS OPEN. Program in that if the guy
is dead, the quest reward is INSIDE THE ROOM, instead of through
the gate. Or just move the quest reward IN THAT ROOM (where he
is either dead, or alive.) Or just MAKE HIM RESPAWN, so he can die again
(no amount of in game days makes him respawn for me, nor does his corpse leave.

2) Still can't complete Daedric Artifact achievement:

I chose the goody two shoes route on at least one, two?, of them.
That hose me for that artifact (s?)

FIX: Let me go back and kill that caster I let live, so the
guy gives me the artifact now. Again, HOW HARD IS THIS?

Lod was DEAD, when I was like level TEN (or whenever.) Since
I was not in the habit of reading spoilers, I had no idea he
was needed. FIX, program in that he is ESSENTIAL. FIX,
make him alive if he is dead. HOW HARD IS THIS ?

I even did the loophole, where you can get TWO Hircine (beast dude)
daedrics from that. I'm still one or two short.

Sure, on the daedric ones I guess I could go back to some ancient save
where Lod is alive. However, then I'd have to get ALL OF THE REST
of the artifacts again. This is just stupid.

The name of the game, with a Bethesda product on the XBOX 360, seems to be
Save constantly/back up your saves and ALWAYS READ EVERY SPOILER!
I'm just not in the habit of spoiling in order to totally min/max, or not hit a glitch.

3) Blades sending you to a dragon that never comes, even in a billion days.

In my case, this one is Anthor, or whatever. This is ODD, because Dawnguard
(or the patch before it, rather) fixed this for me on the Bonestrewn one. So
I was happily doing maybe THREE blades dragon kills again, with Argus and
Lydia (well, until Lydia DIED ABRUPTLY upon zoning in at one. Then I kind
of forgot about it and left her dead, lols.) Then they sent me to mount Anthor,
no dragon.

The odd thing is, not only is the dragon not there but the quest pointer
points to Giant's Grove (that area on the far right of the map, you are
sent to for something to do with an orc and the hammer daedric artifact.)
I even tried going around Giant's grove, no dragon there.. of course.

Bethesda SHOWED they can fix this, by finally fixing the Bonestrewn one.

4) Various lingering quest turn ins, etc, possibly after you finished with
imperials/the other dudes.

I have bounties or whatever, to turn into skaal, etc. They never go away.

5) Kill the leader of....

You go there, it has an arrow where you kill him. He NEVER RESPAWNS,
but the arrow is still there.

I forget the name, but this one is the place where there is another Thieve's guild
faction. You kill the guy and get his armor. Later, you get another quest
to kill the leader of that place (but the leader was THAT guy you already killed.)

Meanwhile:

They bothered to fix Louis Letrush! He was still out in scores
in Dawnguard, but I just visited the whiterun stable after this
expansion was wrapped up; It seemed strangely odd to see
NO Letrush, not even one!

Also, if a thieve's guild repeat quest glitches you can just drop it
or something. You can then get other quests. Why not just make it
so you can DROP the Blades dragon hunting quest if it glitches,
drop it AGAIN if mount anthor comes up, etc?

But if I remember correctly, I actually saved BEFORE Esbern gave me
Mount Anthor; Every TIME he still gave me Mount Anthor, which was still
glitched every time.

This is what I think Bethesda is trying to do. They are going to release the addons and other dlc. Then they will do gamebreaking fixes and some minor fixes with patches in between releases of addons/dlc.
When they have finished releasing addons/dlc, they can focus on fixing the game. So when they have finished, they will release the game of the year version and watch at how the goty skyrim is cheaper than us buying the dlc from xbox live.

There could be an alternative workaround for the High Gate Ruins bug.
Take a follower with you.
In either the first or one of the first rooms of the dungeon is the door you exited the boss room from previously.
It is up on a ledge. There is some debris around the room and with a little trial and error and use of the Whirlwind Sprint shout it is possible to get back up on that ledge.
Here is where the follower comes in. Because they will try to get to where you are but cannot, their pathfinding eventually leads them through the temple, and out through the door to the boss room on the other side of the now locked gate.
Direct your follower to pull the chain that opens the gate.
This will allow you back in the boss room.

Its a bit of a pain to do but I used this once to get past this very same bug, only I needed a book for the Orc from the College.

Also, it sounds like your playing only one character and wanting patches to fix bugs on that character as I think some of your bugs have been fixed
Unfortunately, this is not how patches work.
Patches will prevent the bug from occuring, but will rarely cure an existing bug. So on any new playthrough you should not see cloned Louis', or quest arrows leading you to a random target that never respawns.

That actually isn't true:

Someone just posted in another thread. Neloth, or whomever, gave him a quest to get a staff.

The staff is in that room, or the other side behind the gate.

This is in High Gate Ruins.

He also already did the ruin.

He can't get to the staff, so he can't get anymore radiant quests from Neloth.

Also, Louis Letrush IS just gone in my game suddenly; Before this DLC, I had like 21 of him there.

My experience is that their patches, if they cure something at all, DO cure existing problems. Another
example is my bonestrewn crest Dragon, that never respawned. They patched for Dawnguard. It
fixed my bonestrewn crest dragon, who suddenly spawned, so I could do the blades thing.
It also fixed several of my other stuck quests.

Yes, thats why I described you need a follower.
So they can turn up at the other side of the gate and pull the handle.
This method works to get back into High Gate Ruins, as I detailed.
