Divayth Fyr, Dead or Alive?

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:47 pm

So..I was wondering, since Divayth was pretty close to red mountain, and since hes sparsely mentioned after morrowind, is he dead? Or is he alive? Personally I dont think he is dead, hes just chillin in vvardenfell. and as we know, Neloth was there when red mountain erupted, so shouldnt divayth, the most powerful mage in the history of the elder scrolls, have survived this?

If old Neloth could survive I don't see why Divayth couldn't. He could travel to Oblivion at will, so he could still be in one of the realms.

He may have. All we can do on this topic is speculate without any information to go off of.

He's a 4000 year old wizard who could create portals to Oblivion with ease.
The question is why WOULDN'T he be alive?

Personally, I like to think Beth left it open so that WE can decide. Feels rather sour to have a character you had either your current character (or an old character) kill, only to come back the dead somehow.

I'm looking at YOU, Neloth! :stare:

I don't know, but everytime I see you outside Morrowind Modding sections, I nearly jump out of my seat.

his tower wasnt that close to the volcano
he was set up about the same distance away as neloth was, so its safe to say he made it given hes so adept at plane hopping and other hyper awesome stuff
no news doesnt mean hes dead
telvanni value privacy after all

This.

He'll die sometime. I'm betting as a self-sacrifice or as the Big Bad of a later ES title.

Oooh! He'll play a role in Elder Scrolls ___: Dominion!

if neloth survived it divayth most certainly did heck hes probably still living on the same island he might have just put up a powerful magical barrier when the red mountain erupted or bent the rules on the ban on levitation and put a rune underneath the island to levitate the whole place up in the sky.

It is mentioned somewhere that Divayth Fyr shielded Tel Fyr from the eruption. People like him just don't die. So he's alive and well somewhere.

He's probably chilling on Vvardenfell still. Some Telvanni are apparently still there.

Would like some link on this, not to debunk you or question you, but I am truly interested. Haven't seen anything lore wise about it so now would be the time!

Neloth is annoying ya. At least the only quests that had him die were post-game quests, but all the same he wasn't protected by fate :/.

Neloth seems awesome in this though. Maybe your homeland exploding and being invaded does a wizard some good.

The thing I'm really wondering is what House Telvanni's true status is as well.

Neloth strongly says that it's alive.

Yet vanilla Skyrim said there was only one heir of the house left, so something doesn't quite mix there.

Unless he was just presumed to be and others actually got away from the invasion somehow and while missing, were believed dead.

I'm of the belief that Brand-shei is merely heir to a councillor's position, not the house itself.

If I remember where I read it, I'll post the link.

Neloth said there were more towers in Morrowind. There's a good chance Fyr owns one of them.

Come on guys he's the care taker for the last Dwemer. Beth wouldn't kill him off and leave Yagrum defenseless without telling us in some way shape or form

That is a pretty logical reason, especially from what Neloth tells us.

has to be more wizards, because Neloth talks about them having land holdings/other towns/property on the mainland.

Look at it this way, if Bethesda ever want to do something with the dwarves again.....Divayth Fyr will be alive as he is the foremost expert on them and if Divayth Fyr is alive, you can bet Yagrum is still alive.

He is extremely powerful....a good way to describe him is to say he is as important and powerful as any one of the player characters in the games.......in a way he is a retired version of the player character, closets full of powerful artifacts and many stories and knowledge.

Spoiler
There's gotta be at least one Dwemer left, or else that guy in Morthal couldn't have met Dwemer.
