have added a few mods to my game (all the unofficial patches/skystone tower/better vampires/ unofficial high resolution).

the last 2 dragons i have faced,have not absorbed their souls after beating them.

any ideas as to how to solve the problem?

What is your load order? If mods load in wrong order, it can lead to many issues, including this one.

load order is as follows.

1. skyrim esm

2. dawnguard esm

3.dragonborn esm

4.hearthfires esm

5.update esm

6.unofficial hearthfire patch esp

7.unofficial dawnguard patch esp

8.unofficial dragonborn patch esp

9. unofficial skyrim patch esp

10.high res texture pack 01 esp

11.high res texture pack 02 esp

12.high res texture pack 03 esp

13.skystone castle esp

14.better vampires esp

15.unofficial high resolution patch esp

forgot to add that i amm using the nexus mod manager and have updated all patches/mods e.t.c.

also am in skyrim (have yet to venture to solthseim with my character).

So few mods and already a messy load order. Run BOSS or LOOT, get it sorted.

The loadorder has nothing to do with this issue, because the OP is using USKP and have mods installed and any mods that have loose script will cancel the USKP fixes. Running BOSS or LOOT cannot detect a loose script and will not solve this issue.

Anyway any these of mods must have installed a loose script in the Data\Scripts folder. Otherwise the OP wouldn't have this dragon soul issue in the first place.

I have the same problem. I'm sure it's a mod, but haven't been able to figure out why or how. Every time I kill a dragon I use the console command: modav dragonsouls 1

The issue is caused by wrong load order. Better Vampires comes with bunch of scripts but none of those have anything to do with absorbing dragon souls. Skystone Castle has no scripts.

It's a wrong loadorder because you reminded me about the http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3738-unofficial-patch-esm-conversion/ concept, but regardless any mods can and will cancel out USKP fixes and sorting your loadorder won't help. Also this using mods in this http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3636-mods-made-obsolete-by-unofficial-patches/ will cancel the USKP fixes.

Actually, Leo, load order in this guy's case is probably all there is to it. The sticky posts on all of the Nexus entries for the unofficial patches provide the proper load order.
