worried about multiplayer (360)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:20 am

Been watching that Brandon guy's live footage, when he was on his PC it looked freaking awsome fun! he was playing multiplayer BUT when he moved to 360 he only ever played against the bots, now n again he randomly got put into online games and well yeah he couldnt really move =\ it was just insane lag.

i thought the day 1 patch was for graphics and networking issues? is this lag from the game being broken on 360 or is it because the matchmaking servers are overloaded from release? i know games lag on release but this looked real bad.

im hoping my game comes tomorrow :) it got dispatched yesterday morning at like 7am :) I just hope im not stuck playing on my own for ages while online gets fixed. is there any info on SD working on the online part for 360?

So far, on the 360, it's been a mixed bag. A few games ran smooth and I had loads of fun. Other games I had to back out immediately due to 2-3 sec lag. Other times the match wouldn't even start, we just kept sitting there waiting for deployment, soon after that, we got into a game where we all spawned, but couldn't move anywhere. Just stuck in spawn area. Some matches I couldn't even get my friend in on the game, even though we had plenty of space on the team. I really hope they work this out, game really needs a lobby where all my friends can gather, then try entering a match. I mean not having that lobby feels like a step back in time tbh.

Now, the few games we played where everything ran smooth was a blast. We even teamed up to co-op a few missions and had lots of fun doing that. The A.I could use a little beef (enemy AI). On a few maps, we easily stopped them at a bottleneck, and it was a long, boring 10+ mins waiting for the match to end. All in all I'm pleased with the game, the more I played and got used to it, the more fun I had. Does need a few tweaks here and there, most notably, with the online MP MM and connections.

Lag is fixed for some, graphics is still hell for nearly all 360s. No response from the devs yet, so my guess would be they are working their asses off to release a new patch with an official apology, at the same time.

I hope so also, but this was developed by Splash Damage and they released that sub-part console version of Quake Wars, so I have little faith at this point.

thanks for the info, i did find another live stream of someone on 360 and they were not lagging, im hoping its minor network code problem or just overload on release. i hear everyone moaning about graphics but they look ok to me, maybe i just dont pay attention to detail, too busy watching the parkour and ass kicking!

and yes no pre lobby system for friends is silly idea, makes it hard to group up with friends and thats what adds so much fun to online games

I've been reading the complaints about the graphics also, but tbh, they seem fine to me. Not huge amounts of detail, but not ugly either. For me it's always been gameplay > graphics anyway.

I think the graphics look great. Competitive gameplay beats out graphics any day, and the art style is really awesome and unique.

I remember in the original enemy territory, for tournaments the graphics were turned down to create the perfect, consistent frame rate.

they better fix it otherwise it will destroy their rep for any future games they may want to do on a console - it needs major fixing for us console players.

Judging by how the handled New Vegas, don't expect much
