Hey all, I just loaded F:NV up and I'm getting horrible fps and lots of stutters... my PC is way over the specs needed to run the game, and I run FO3 at max settings with little to no lag.

Biggest concern: My video card monitors indicate that only 15% of the video card power is being used... basically putting me at crappy frames... I'm using a GTX 460 and the latest drivers (not the ones from this week). Anyone having the same issue or have a solution? Any word on if the new NVIDA drivers fix anything?

Have you tried setting the GPU to performance mode with either the nvidia control panel, or something like NVU?

I haven't tried anything involving the actual GPU, just the in-game settings before I realized that it was only using a fraction of the GPU.

Again, I run other games absolutely fine max settings, I was even playing FO3 earlier today for hours to get back into the FO swing, no issues.

I wonder... Check the control panel and see if it has New Vegas in the list of games? It might be that it doesn't have preset settings like FO3 does.

In that case... perhaps adding the NV launcher and EXE to the FO3 profile might help? nVidia did release drivers -today- but AFAIK the changelog made no mention of New Vegas.

well i was having same problem but i downloaded the drivers now it seems to be running much smoother but im not sure..

I'll tryn download the new drivers... it may or may not really help anything, but I guess it's good to do it anyway...

There's a new NVIDIA driver. Install it and after that in the NVIDIA Control Panel you can find a profile for Fallout New Vegas, in it you can try setting "Power management mode" to "Prefer maximum performance" . Tell us if there is any improvement.

Also, you can try turning off transparency multisampling and water related effects.

I did this, it helped slightly, but the lag is definitely still there. Very, very prominent when there is lots of NPCs around...

No problem here with a GTX 285 using 182.50 driver.
Everything is maxed in game running at 5040x1050. Game looks and runs beautifully....

The lag has something to do with the NPC's themselves

It's NPC audio, remove FFDSHOW from your system worst case, you can always just reinstall it if it doesn't fix your problem.

I haven't seen this issue with the GTX280 but, to be fair the game crashes on me as I approach the cemetery so I havent been able to spend much time in it

Ah this is so annoying, the game should have been optimized for Nvidia, instead it's the exact opposite >.>

I'm having the same issue with a Radeon 5850, tried two sets of drivers, GPU is never going higher than 50%, usually sitting around 30%, very choppy outside, I haven't tried the codec removal yet, at work atm....

My game is arriving today and I have a GTX 460 1GB (with a Phenom II X4 955). I'll install, test and report back later today.
