Between a Hologram and Speaker

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:00 am

OK, so (first time poster on this forum) I bought Dead Money at the crack of dawn this morning, and everything has been OK up until this point. No bugs, no game-breaking AI fails, or anything of the sort. I'm almost Level 34 and me, being a casual player with no interest in difficulty (pretty much as one game Dev. called a certain type of gamer, a "Content tourist") anyways I'm at:

Spoiler
The quest where you have to confront Dean in the theater area, I have absolutely no clue how to get to him, I go into that back hallway and the collar stops beeping, but if I get close to his dresser room, it starts beeping again. I checked in there at the cost of a reload and there was a radio in there, only that didn't stop the beeping and caused me to die, so I did that and backtracked after I reloaded the save. Then I proceeded into that back room with the small pocket of Cloud and there was a breakable speaker there so I shot it, and even that didn't stop the beeping, causing me to die again, and I cant find any more sources besides the shielded ones (that I have no clue where to turn them off at). And that stupid Hologram patrolling the stage isn't helping.

If anyone can post something similar to a guide for this certain are, (maybe even begging) for a youtube demonstration, it'd be much appreciated. I'm so over this DLC, and I'm ready for it to be over so that I may go back to my life and not think about the past 6+ hours of pure torture Obsidian has put me through. I mean it's a great DLC, but there are some parts that are just extremely too hard for a casual fallout player like me.

I'm stuck there too, except for some reason I can't open the backstage door even though I have the key from Vera's book. Any hints?

If you are in front of where you got Vera's book / key, run to the right to that door tucked in the far right corner of the room. It should open now. Close the door behind you to avoid being shot at. Run down the hall, raid the first room to the right, run back to where you closed the door. Raid that room until nothing's left, and then from the closed door run all the way to the second room to the right. Go ALL the way back to the inaccessible door, turn around and see the transmitter collar blower up thingie and shoot it dead. Raid the room but be mindful some other transmitter starts bugging you near the exits. Once you're done go through the right hand door and reach that terminal to turn off audio broadcasts.

I'm not sure what to do after this. Anyone got any advice?

Thanks! I'll give that a try. I was going to the door by the left side of the stage (stage right).

Just to be sure, room #2 (where you'll shoot the transmitter) has a shelf when you walk in and the door has red poison mist around it. Stand there and fire away with the holo rifle.

Ok I missed Vera's backstage key in that FIRST room after you escape the three hologram robots near the stage.

Additional info:
After you escape the robots around the stage, close the door and go down the hall. Turn left, then turn behind you and shoot the transmitter there. Run into the first room on your right and check for Vera's backstage key on the desk. Follow the advice above and then when you turn off the ambient audio stand flat against the backstage door to the right of the ambient audio terminal, let the kill signal stop. Now there should be a door to your left. Open it to be greeted by another annoying kill signal.

Go in the room, turn right, there'll be a radio. Shut that mutha off. Grab everything on the table where the radio is: bobby pins, key and holotape. Raid the room, leave and turn right to open that backstage door.

I eventually figured it out after nearly wanting to throw something, because I started noticing little spots without pockets of radio waves making the collars beep, so I kept running in between those pockets momentarily scouting my options, then I noticed Vera's key in the dressing room.

Christine's quest was a piece of cake compared to that torture hall, although I kinda had trouble with the final run.

You're gonna have so much fun down in the vault. To quote Emperor Palpatine in Robot Chicken that's gonna be one long series of WT@!#! moments.
