What do you keep and what kind of bonuses do you get after c

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:57 am

There is a lot of loot to carry around. I have my companions carry some of it. Do you get their inventories back at the end of the Sierra Madre episode? I have Dog/God carrying a ton of spears.

If I miss some stuff can I got back and get it... like a schematic or unique piece of armor? Is there an NPC or device around that dispenses cloud residue, police revolvers, cosmic knives, automatic rifles, and other stuff in the Abandoned BoS bunker? Any post-DLC bonuses like in Mothership Zeta or the other FO3 expansions?

At one point in the story, the followers will no longer be able to accompany you at which point everything you had them carrying will be returned you your inventory.

After you finish the main quest, you will be put in front of the fountain free to explore. To the south is the gate back to the Mojave, but after you activate that gate and return to the Mojave you can NEVER go back to the Sierra Madre again. Best you can do is find a container near the gate and store up items until you think you've collected it all, then pick it all up and leave.

No one puts a random piece of Dead Money loot in a box somewhere every 3-7 days?

Oh look at what Dean, Dog, Christine left me...
- 25 throwing spears
- cosmic knife, police pistol. automatic rifle, and a piece of armor
- some cloud residue

Nothing like that?

Nope. Nothing. What you walk out with is all you will ever get from it, ever.

Well, there is a new exploit thing, if you find the right schematic you can trade in cigarette packs/carton for casino chips which they can then trade in for weapon repair kits.
No need to "craft" the kits at all anymore.
Way easier to just exchange cigarettes for casino chips and then exchange that for repair kits.
So crafting just went down a point cause of the DLC IMO.

No I mean there's one of those exchange machines in the BOS Bunker where you start the DLC.
So you can still exchange cigarettes for chips for repair kits in the bunker.

Don't remember, I was kinda dazed when I played DM and the streets are such a maze that it's hard to remember specific items locations.
Just do what I did, explore.
In fact, Dead Money took me 9 hours to complete due to heavy exploring.

Did you search every single container you found?
I searched trash-cans, night-stands, lockers, drawers etc and tried to completely scan the room and make sure I was done before I went on.
Again, if we could GO BACK (/:stare: @ Obsidian) then we could go explore for the items we missed later on.
(I'm all for decision and consequence but locking me out after completion feels like a big slap in the face)

Yes, but that is quite inconvenient outside of the Sierra Madre. I wouldn't want to have to go to the ABoS bunker and engage in some back and forth with the vending machine when I can just go to a repair bench with all the crap I happened to collect and make the kits right there. And anyway, I use crafting for plenty of other stuff: Turbo, Party Time Mentats, poisons, et al.

You need wrenches, duct tape, scrap metal and wonderglue iirc. Instead of getting all that you could just get cigarettes, pre war clothes, and other things, sell them, then get weapon kits. The new method is more efficient.

Maybe, but with the exchance machine you only need to worry about cigarettes which weigh less (at least I think they do.).
And repair kits require several different items to craft, so if you have a lot of two but only some of the third (and fourth?) then you'll only be able to craft a certain amount.
With cigarettes you never need to worry about having the right number of items.
I found it a lot more convenient. :)
As a matter of fact, excluding the one repair kit at Jean Sky Diving I've never used another repair kit until DM.

Old lady gibson, gun runners, and a few others are good sources for duct tape, wonderglue, wrenches, scrap electronics, and scrap metal. Old Lady Gibson restocks her misc stock regularly... duh... she's the junkyard owner. W/ jury rigging you don't need as many repair kits. You'll collect more 9mm and .357 revolvers than you can deal w/. You fix a lot of stuff w/ them. Buying lower level guns is cheaper than making the repair kits sometimes.

I save the repair kits for the explosive weapons, miniguns, launchers, marksman carbine, and other that are expensive to fix w/ other weapons.

Yeah, I always find that stuff in my inventory (repair kit crap). Apparently, I collect it without even realizing it. So... maybe I should say: "for me" it's more convenient to just use a repair bench. I only collect cig cartons and then I sell them as soon as possible.

Yeah.. I got the weapon repair kit code, doctor's bag code, stimpacks, super stimpacks, etc. etc.. I'm especially glad you can do this for the doctor's bags because playing in hardcoe along with the rarity of finding or even being able to purchase doctor's bags got rough at some points.

I'm never paying for any of those things again.. just find (aka steal) cigarettes and trade them in for useful items.
