Wow, that was really interesting. The first Deep One screenshot especially made me smile! Ah, low poly graphics...What I find most fascinating about those DCotE shots, though, is how similar they are to the finished product. The maps seem quite similar in places: the jail cell, for instance, and the police station, and the gilman hotel room, and the streets of Innsmouth, all look remarkably like they do in the finished game. And some of the characters look surprisingly similar, too. Ruth, Jack, Dr Hardstrom etc. all look quite different and seem to have evolved quite slowly, but Ramona was immediately recognisable. Those later screenshots seem to have most of the game in place, and the thing I find most noticeable is not the content but rather the colours and style: I guess de-saturating and sepia-ing the game was one of the last things they did. On the subject of characters - the "Insane Jack?" picture for 2004 looks to me more like Henry Garrison, though I could of course be wrong. What are all those weapons in the super ammo room shot? The pistols and small arms in the foreground look like:RevolverBroomhandle pistolColt 1911DynamiteGrenadesKnifeStick/truncheonThen the rifles/shotguns on the wall look like:Tommy gunRemington shotgun? The shotgun with only one chamber, seen in some early screenshotsBolt action rifle with a scope or sight?Double barrelled shotgunWhich just leaves:Mounted heavy machine gunFlamethrower from the Star Spawn sequenceHarpoon? (At the bottom of the pic)Two-by-four with a nail in it?Is that a metal bar or something behind the flamethrower?HatchetsCrowbarSome kind of strange semi-organic weapon - possibly an early version of the Yithian gun? Those Destiny's End screenshots are rather saddening, though. I particularly like the freaky twig-armed enemies with bulbous heads and screaming, twisted faces: very creepy! A pity they never got to terrorise us senseless...Thanks again for releasing all this stuff, Ray: us DCotE fans really appreciate it!
