Vault 11 / Lucky 38

I'm usually not one to complain, but this issue really got under my skin!

After playing for almost 69 hours on the PS3 (and reaching level 30 and exploring almost all points on the map), I decided to finally enter the Strip and start the main faction quests. I knew that there were several ways to complete the main storyline, so I was hoping to save at point where I can branch off for each of the main faction quest lines, complete that quest, and then revert back to the save game and do another main quest.

However, imagine my surprise when I get to the Lucky 38 to go see Mr. House and all the robots turn on me! After doing a little digging I find out about the infamous Vault 11/ Lucky 38 turret faction bug! I had entered Vault 11 at about 30 hours of game play, so for me to go back to that point and restart the game would be a lot of wasted time!

It is really disappointing that Bethesda / Obsidian released such a buggy product in the first place, and cannot fix an issue like this in any of the subsequent patches. I can live with the freezing. I can live with the crashing. I can live with characters getting stuck in rocks. But to see all that time invested in the game with the hopes of getting all of the acheivements / trophies, only to be told to "go back to an old save game and start again" seems lazy on the developers part.

It's really too bad, because I was a big fan of Fallout 3 and pre-ordered Fall Out New Vegas based on my past experience. Last time I ever pre-order a game. Next time I'll wait 6 months for the bugs to be ironed out!

Sorry for not adding anything new to this issue, but it's nice to vent sometimes :-)

I just got through Vault 11, haven't been to the strip yet, on my second restart after my phat PS3 died on my first 100 hr play through.

Do you have the new patch? Hoping this was fixed. I'm not starting again. I have never had to work so hard to enjoy a game before.

I had completed Vault 11 sometime in early November (i.e. was playing with Patch 1.01 that was released Oct 20th). Just got to The Strip last night (i.e. am currently playing with Patch 1.02 that was released Dec 9th). Seems to me that they might have fixed this issue with the latest patch (i.e. by removing the affiliation of the Vault 11 turrets to the same Faction ID as Lucky 38), but since I completed Vault 11 while playing under 1.01, I guess I destroyed the turrets that were set to the same faction ID as Lucky 38.

Doesn't look like the new patch "resets" your standing with the Lucky 38 secuirtrons after you've already destroyed the Vault 11 turrets - would be nice if it did, but maybe they didn't do this reset since it might screw up other quests in the game? Dunno

Oh well - that's what I get for rushing to play this game! I should be like my wife and just use the PS3 to play Elefunk - at least there's no worries about patches for that game :-)

Thanks for the info. That gives me some hope that my current save files might still allow me to enter 38 w/o being hostile.

Good luck. Post on the forum if it ends up working for you. But the only sure-fire way of not having this bug is to go to Lucky 38 BEFORE you go to Vault 11.

At least for me, it appears the new patch corrected this problem.
I was able to enter Lucky 38, & talk to House without being attacked by hostile robots.

Lucky me.

Damn I'm in the same boat I just strolled into the Lucky 38 and they will not stop shooting me. I guess it's okay because I intended to go with the NCR this time around but it annoys me that after being welcomed in they promptly shoot me. I can't even reload because I found Vault 11 really early and have long since saved over that file.
