Buying New Vegas in Steam?

Hi all, I have Fallout 3 game of the year edition on DVD but it wont register on Steam. Anyone know if I'll be able to play New Vegas if I buy it on Steam? Or will I need to have Fallout 3 Steam registered for it to work?

Fallout 3 is not integrated into Steam, thus can't be registered with it. The serial is only for use with GfWL. New Vegas, on the other hand, will use Steamworks as protection, thus will have to be registered with Steam.

Also, New Vegas isn't an expansion, so Fallout 3 will not be a requirement either way.

Great, thanks for your help - I'll go ahead and pre-order seeing that its stand alone from the game.
