Landscape in the Cell

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:14 am

Hello everybody.
As the title says, I got question about an importing/adding of wasteland landscape into the cell. What I want to get is the non-flat floor. The sky could be simulated by the skybox (I suppose  ) but the floor is much tricky (I suppose again  ).
Thanks for any advices.
A.

You mean in an interior cell? In interior cells you can't use the landscape, but just models, for the sky yes you can put a static model with a skybox on it, but for the landscape you have to model it, or if you want to do an exterior cell, you have to create a new World Space.

Thanks for reply.
Yes I meant an interior cell. Actually I was hoping that it's not possible but I just asked...
Well here's another following reverse question: Is it possible to get the static sky in the landscape? What I mean is to achieve constant night so the sun never come out. In that case I'd also like to edit the night texture... well I hope it's not impossible either...

Yeah the static sky model is just as any other model with the difference that have a skybox, but there still a problem, the ambient light color of the outdoor will still change even if you close uo the skybox around your area, so you would still notice when is morning or night by seeing the light color changing on the ground and walls. The ambient light color is global inside a cell of a world space.

I would suggest to use another method instead, creating a new world space you can set up the climate conditions and make it permanently night without the use of any static skybox and you can still sculpt the terrain and add whatever you want.

It's possible to simulate permanent night? How? By those sliders (Sunrise Begin, Sunrise End, Sunset Begin, Sunset End) or is it something more tricky?

On Climates on the right of the window you can see Weathers. Go to World>Weathers there you can create one, you can make a fake always night type by putting the same value on all the day cycles, you can even add only stars on the sky.

Done that go back on your climate and on the Weathers tab add your weather.

Then in the World Space on Climate put your custom one.

Now this is just a trick, it doesn't make the permanent night real in terms of time, you can still wait or sleep and have time passing. You can disable waiting on the World Spaces window. there is a checkbox with written "Can't Wait", just check this.

To be honest, actually I didn't try this in GECK with my mod because there's no mod... for now. I just plan it and I'll start to work on it in real when I'll know that I got everything I need (at least the most of it). In other words - I'm just collecting the knowledge for now. So I may potentially find some problems later and in that case I'll reply if I may... well I hope I never will - all you wrote sounds reasonable and understandable...
