How is it now?

I am a ex-Xbox user, I sold it off for the PS3 since this console has a ton more exclusives that I enjoy. I had New Vegas for the 360 and I loved it (barely any problems either in the big chunk of it I played), but it sounded the PS3 version got the short end of the stick as far as bugs/glitches/crashes are concerned back then.

Anyways, I have my PS3 Slim and I'm going to get New Vegas again as soon as I can find it somewhere at a good price (I refuse to pay full $60 for most games nowadays), I'm just curious...

a ) Did the latest patch really help the game a lot? I know people are annoyed by certain perk/balance changes, but are the crashes less common (they'll never be completely gone, even FO3 still has them) and are most of the big problems touched up? Would you say it's Fallout 3 caliber in terms of the number of bugs/crashing after the patch?

b ) Are there any more patches guaranteed on the way or is this it for a while? I know a DLC is currently exclusive to the 360 at the moment, and will more likely than not make it's way to the PS3 and PC in the coming months, but any more bug-fixing patches announced on the way?

Thanks guys!

No. If anything, it's now more buggy. And it exceeds Fallout 3 caliber in crash quantity. Fallout 3 I could play for 10 minutes. New Vegas I've had to reboot my PS3 4 times in the last 5 minutes. And right as I wrote this, I need to get up and do it again.

Strongly recommend not buying. Neat silver coaster (game disc) and playing cards, but sure as heck not a fun game.

Yeah, the game still has a bad habit of hanging and a fair share of annoying bugs but if you can manage to put up with it, then its definitely worth the struggle. TBH, I'm surprised the game wasn't further tested for this kind of stuff. I hear so many complaints from other players about the constant freezing, bugs, and whatnot. Does the development studio not have a QA team? I could see if the game was rushed out early to meet a deadline but this just screams carelessness or laziness. It is way better to delay a buggy version of the game than to rush out a flawed one on time.

Freezing and bugs aside, the game is pretty good. It's not too much different from F3 but it has some unique attractions and new features well worth checking out. If they can get a patch out to address the freezing issues, then its def. worth buying, especially if you were a fan of the previous installment.

Advice to the developers: please thoroughly play the game before releasing it :P

I completely agree.

This game has the potential to be one of the best games I've ever played...except for the fact that I can only play it for about 5-10 minutes before it freezes up my PS3 and I have to cold start my console. In my mind, there is no excuse for any software developer who lists a QA section in their credits to put out software this buggy. It doesn't help reputation, future sales or consumer confidence in general. Deadline or not, this software would have made a much bigger (positive) impression on me if it had been released more fully functional. Not to sound too snarky, and without knowing the particulars of the actual QA process for this game, were the beta testers all in-house and running pristine systems loaded with nothing more than what is needed to play this game? I'll gladly sign NDAs all day to be put on a list to beta test software with this kind of potential so that it doesn't make it to the shelf crippled by bugs and glitches.

As of this moment, I cannot bring myself to recommend this game to anyone until the freezing-up issues are resolved (both in trading and elsewhere), and I will likely not buy any new Bethesda games until after they have been on the shelf long enough to have been marked WAY down.

Its the same broken game that it was on launch the only difference is its worse and that's about it. Short, sweet, and to the point!

We should be directing the gaming reviewers, magazines and shows to this forum to show them what the consumers are facing. Bad publicity like this hurts future sales and makes consumers cautious about purchasing from those companies again. Articles on failure in the gaming community get attention.
