Friend of the Night ( perk )

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:38 am

Can anyone tell me more about this perk ?

Friend of the Night (1 Rank)

Prerequisite: Sneak 30, Perception 6

You are a true friend of the night. Your eyes adapt quickly to low-light conditions indoors and when darkness falls across the post-nuclear wasteland.

Is it nightvision ? .. or change how dark it is ?

I assume it affects how easily you will be able to see in the dark, perhaps negating the need for a Pipboy light to be on. Since the Pipboy light and radio effect the effectiveness of your sneaking, I'm guessing this would be valuable to players who prefer to sneak around enemy camps or buildings and still want to be able to see everything easily.

This sounds like it would be pretty handy. There was a lot of areas in Fallout 3 where I could have used that. It's a pitty that you need to invest points into Sneaking to unlock it.. Although 30 isn't too high I suppose.

I don't see how its a very good use of a perk if you AREN'T investing points in Sneaking. Otherwise just turn on the Pipboy light and shoot people as you see them, right?

I wonder how this perk works. Will it just give every area an extra boost to ambient lighting? Will it make the character glow as if his pipboy light is on, but without the sneaking penalty? Or will it apply a shader, like night vision? *shrug*

Well nah because In terms of increasing visability the Pipboy light is about on par with a disposable lighter. I'm kinda hoping that this perk acts as night vision to be honest, if it does then it's worth the points in Sneaking that I'll never use.

Maybe it increases your chance to hit in V.A.T.S. at night.

It lets you see in the dark as in night vision.. The nights are apearantly much darker in new vegas. Mind you there are other ways to see in the dark such as a drug and night vision goggles.. but presumably this way is rather good.

I would guess that it will NOT eb a shader (i.e. Night Vision), but rather it would be as if the contrast was upped, essentially making everything around you brighter.
