Making of DVD: Fallout New Vegas: Collector Edition

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:19 pm

With the new Fallout New Vegas Collector's edition set for pre orders, with a pic of what's included, there's a disc sleeve entitled "The Making of Fallout New Vegas". If the DVD isn't already finished, what would you like to see on it? And if you've already seen the first "Making of Fallout 3" disc, what do you think could've been improved?

I personally want to see the director of the project give us something over 60 minutes at least, so I can sit back and watch a documentary from the intial stages all the way through the final day of development, and the team's thoughts narrated over footage of the game play, concept art and studio in which Obsidian works, along with the detailed history of Fallout.

If we end up with a disc that's 15 minutes long, I'll be really disappointed. 30 minutes isn't much better.

You're right. I'd like to see the wireframes, character development on the computer, and what custom program they're using and the benefits of it. I'd like to also see how they go about painting and texture mapping the environment, and how they use motion capture or animation to create the character's movements. Also, if they mention the technical bugs they had to overcome, that'd be nice too.

Obsidian, please take note, we want a feature packed DVD at least 1 hour's worth minimum. But also, allow a "PLAY ALL" button, so we can sit back and just watch it all unfold.

Does anyone on this forum have the Fallout 3 "Making of" DVD? And if so, how long was it and what did you think of it? :sadvaultboy:

Sorry to bump this thread, but anyone own the "MAKING of Fallout 3" DVD? I'm guessing no one here has it.

Well, when I recently found and bought a FO3 collectors edition set at walmert, one of the things I did was watch the Making of DVD. But to be honest, it was interesting, but it was so short. I was hoping for like. an hour or so of selectable features. Maybe NV will do this?

I found it cool how they made Super Duper Mart based of their experiencewith a power outage in a grocery store. :D

I love watching behind the scenes stuff on the development of a game so I hope new vegas has some good stuff in this regard. I was really impressed with the god of war collections features it had tons of videos on the development process with all three god of wars complete with artwork and early concept and chock full of interviews. Probably the best behind the scenes bonuses for a game I've ever seen and it all came on the same disc as well! Blu ray for the win...

Thanks. I appreciate the info. I was wondering how much they invested into the "Making of" for Fallout 3, so I can imagine what FNV's "Making of" might be like. Disappointed it's so short.

I'd really like to see in FNV "Making of"

1 Hour of Content + extras
-A making of documentary, from beginning to nearly the end of the production process, including all the tiny details from intial designs, concepts, to programming, computer modeling, testing, story development and interviews.

-I'm dreaming, I know. It'll probably be a tiny 15 minute video afterthought considering the time invested in the game itself. But I hope not...

Obsidian, please make the DVD at least 1 hour. 1 hour of all the hours you've put into the game isn't asking for too much, is it? Thanks.

I liked the Making of DVD for Fallout 3 but it had so much potential lost. Your list has everything I wish was on there. None the less cool though. I want a History of Fallout series complete with clips most.
