Steam servers issue

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:26 pm

Hi,

I've bought FNV yesterday, and since, i keep trying to make it work. I run the setup, i type the steam activation key, and i get a message from steam : "Steam server is unavailable. Your computer is either currently unable to reach the steam servers, or the service may be temporarily disabled. Please try again later."
I've checked some solutions on many forums and i tried everything : deleting ClientRegistry.blob, rebooting computer, using the adminitrator comptability mod, reinstall steam, etc. but none of them worked.
So, if you could help me, i'd be very grateful (cause Fallout New Vegas seems to be a damn good game !!).

(Excuse me for my bad english, I'm French).

Bonjour Humpty,
Steam is completely overloaded.
Remember, everyone who buys the game must download many gigabytes...
Even guys with the DVD (store-bought) must download coupla gigabytes apparently, heheh.
And it's Saturday! The first one since the game's release.
It all adds up to serious traffic congestion for Steam users...
I recommend you wait a few days before playing anyway, because the changes they are making have already trashed my savegames and I must start over.
Regards

Hi Gryphon,
Thanks for you quick answer.
Actually, I bought the store version (DVD version), and steam is only needed for the activation key (just before the setup). I've talked with some people who bought the DVD version too, and none of them seemed to have that issue (and they didn't need to download anything from steam). So I don't think the matter comes from Steam servers, maybe from my computer.
However, I'm gonna wait a few days (keeping trying to make the game work) and see if there is any changes.
Thanks again !
