Game hiccups get progressively worse as time goes on.

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:56 pm

I just purchase the game today and it started out fine no problems a couple of hours into the game i started to notice the game start to hiccup for a half second every couple of minutes or so, then the hiccups got longer and started happening every 30 seconds, it started to get really distracting so i thought i would erase my saves and the data utility. After i erased everything i started a new game reinstalled the game and started a new save, everything was A ok so i thought problem fixed. Now its been 3 hours into the game and the hiccups are starting again every couple of minutes. I did some research and notice some people in forums complaining about it, didn't they patch a fix? Or is the game suppose to be like this? Is it going to get even worse? I really like the game but it runs really bad.

The game is kinda a broken I'm sorry to say its my understanding that the crashes and other stability issues are unsolvable might be wrong but just throwing out what I've heard your game will crash eventually there is things you can do to reduce it but its an inevitability especially once your save file gets bigger. maybe if you go back and complain enough to the store they will give you your money back. Good luck with what ever you do.

Well that is disappointing to hear... I would return it but my girlfriend bought it for me as an early Christmas present so I will keep it for sentimental reasons, 60 dollars is alot of money for a game that does not work. I don't see how a company filled with what I hope is hard working ppl with good conscience would release something in this state. I have never bought an obsidian game before and after this experience i don't think i ever will. Well atleast i have TES skyrim to look forward too.

Oh I see that svcks man. Well if your lucky you could be one of the people that has minimal issues if nothing else you should be able to complete the game at least. I don't know anyone from the company personaly but they weren't worried about conscience just about money thats only my humble opinion however anyway. Ya I don't think I'm going to buy from obsidian a lot of there games are broken I'll consider buying from Bethesda because Oblivion and Fo3 were glitchy too but I could play those with minimal crashes and other issues not the same for NV like many other people. I don't know about Skyrim I hear its just going to use the same old broken engine but there modifying it or something doesn't sound to promising but on a happier note supposedly their making a new engine for Fo4 so at least there is some light at the end of this very long tunnel of Bethesda and Obsidian lets hope they don't smash it with a hammer when we get to the end of it .

p.s. sorry for the dumb metaphor

Well the game has other bugs like freezing and really bad clipping and getting stuck in the geometry but those dont really bug me, they happen once every hour or so. This hiccuping is worse, its like listening to a music cd skip every couple of seconds, its unlistenable. And in this case unplayable. i just take this experience as live and learn. Now I know better than to buy an obsidian game. C'est la vie

Oh, My beef with the game is the freezes requiring a hard-reboot I refuse to play NV now because I don't want it damaging my system. Same reason I don't play Black ops It seems game developers cater to Xbox users and shaft ps3 users just because Xbox shells out more money to them for exclusive DLC's and what not and probably told Treyarch "Hey F'up the PlayStation online play and we'll throw more money at you" "Duh ok". I hope all you greedy sons a [censored]es go bankrupt. We all need to group up and fix the broken greedy system the world runs on. So lock this thread delete my account do what ever you mods with over sized ego's do but to who ever is listening don't defend these companies there is no excuse for their shoddy workmanship and I'm tired of it. And to all those people going "Your whining" you need to figure out your getting jipped out of your money and you should quit shelling your money out to them it won't fix anything sure neither will this post unless enough people do it but hey and you will just get ripped off again they've used the same broken game engine 3 times now and I haven't heard of an obsidian game that isn't broken. So congratulations on your greed guys. :celebration: gamesas and Obsidian  $$$$. & hate their customers why else would you treat us like poo....

I agree that this game was certainly released before it was ready. It really seems like the PS3 version wasn't tested properly because I played the XBOX360 version and did not have this many freezes. I understand that fallout new vegas is a really big game and testing extensively would possibly add 6 months to a year to the release date but it is rough to play it like this. I had to give up on the game for now... at least until the new patch comes out in hopes that it will take care of some of the issues I am dealing with.

I'm not sure about new vegas, but I have both the pc version and ps3 version of Fallout 3, the crash issue's were universal between all 3 systems from what I've heard, and the same seems to be true for New Vegas (after searching Google). I really wish the company(s) creating games like this would take quality more serious. They're killing the reputation of this wonderful game. Luckily for me: The game doesn't freeze up too much, I just save every few minutes. Already on my 3rd run through and loving it.

I have been playing the game since i posted. Every time the game starts to hiccup really bad i just delete the install and reinstall it and it helps most of the time. Some times i can get a couple of days with out it being a problem but it always comes back. So i delete it again. It is really annoying i have to keep doing this but i guess its better than nothing. I hope it doesn't mess up my ps3. I hope this helps anyone.
