Unplayable

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:20 am

I wanted to take time out to express my issues that I have currently experienced with Fallout New Vegas...and would like to know when these will be addressed. I have played through this game for, now, the 3rd time and 20 hours in..I had to stop because of yet another bug that has either ruined my character, or the game comes unhinged upon itself. All new characters started fresh, (even one after the most recent patch) and I've had the following issues:

Game stuttering to freezing outright causing reset in all known outdoor areas and some indoor in many locations.
Texture loading on some surfaces in outdoor environments...this includes low level distant textures/polys when right in front of the object in question, or both the distant render and the close range drawing transposed on one another (Especially around 188 and Boomer territory).
"Candy Stripes" drawn on outdoor nearby rocks when approached....its the best way I can describe it...upon closer inspection its lines with glitchy characters drawn on rocky surfaces outside, this happens on absolutely every character both new and old and still occurs after uninstall/reinstall.
Enemies falling through the ground practically everywhere or stuck in hills.
Completely broken turrets in Searchlight.
15 lbs of inventory space permanently lost upon completion of "Wheel of Fortune" quest, NCR radio, computer parts, grenades flagged as quest items and *CAN NOT* be removed.
Unable to complete "I put a Spell on You" quest due to train running off as soon as the monorail area loads...even using Turbo, train still leaves instantly, pretty much guaranteeing failed quest
All follower companions mysteriously vanish upon area loading in various towns and do not return until a previous save is loaded....sometimes message is displayed that they died (even in vacant houses) just by loading a new area (entering a door etc.)
Boone seems to get 'confused' in all combat encounters and switches weapons repeatedly, does not react to player interactions, movements or combat prowess.
Vanishing inventory items at random.
Inventory count seems to not report correctly, sometimes the same item at max durability does not make a (2, 3..etc) it instead makes a whole new slot as if it was a unique item...also items transposing over themselves but not reporting how many, such as 2 items of same durability etc and multiples of the same item...but not showing a number.
A 'hole' near the boxes at the control tower area (interior) at McCarren, player character and followers fall through the floor and cannot get back out unless auto travel, or reloading a previous save.
NPC's in some camp areas are stuck in the ground, inside walls, and wrecked vehicles...some of which are quest related.

...and several others. I find myself pretty tolerant on a few bugs in games.....yeah they are mistakes...they happen...I get it. But when things like this happen all of every 20 to 30 minutes forcing me to reload a previous save (if it lets me) and losing all of my progress due to the game falling apart within itself repeatedly...I can't justify recommending this game to anyone at all or give it positive feedback when asked or reviewed, and now I'm a little paranoid in completing some quests because I keep getting quest items frozen in time in the Pipboy, or something else bad happening that I have no control over, or the game coming to a complete halt altogether.

I'd really like to see these problems addressed because I was anticipating this game for quite some time (and a huge fan of Fallout 2); I find the fact that this game being nigh unplayable extremely dissapointing.

I appreciate your time in reading this.

Good it's the only way to stand up to companies since the worthless government won't do anything if you ask me it works out better then government involvement if you can get enough people to do it :hubbahubba:

I have alot of the same problems, as you mentioned i do repeatedly delete the install everyday atleast once, and does help the stuttering for a couple of hours, but it always comes back. It is really disappointing, but there is nothing we can do but learn from this experience and not buy obsidian developed games.

Had to add this one was just now:

Michel Angelo just tried to talk to me in his room under the table at a 90 degree angle and just disappeared through the floor after saying hi.

I am in the same boat. I traded in my copy and pre ordered Mass Effect 2 and Homefront. My Game Stop guy said there are tons of people fed up and trading their New Vegas copy for somthing else. Maybe by the time the "Game of the Year" or whatever edition comes out, the bugs will be fixed and it will be playable.

have you played F3 GOTY edition? NV is worse, and we haven't even added any DLC to it. I hope the rest of their DLC is a flop because everyone has gotten sick of the game. I already sold my copy, and I'm staying the hell away from Bethesda's products until I've heard they work, and if they do I'll buy'em used.

As far as I am concerned gamesas are thieves to put this garbage on the shelves. I wont make the mistake of buying ANYTHING of these con artists again. There should be a class action for this kind of blatant software ripoff. My time is worth something even when I am playing a game!!! I hope these developers end up in a hospital someday, connected to some life support computer that has equivalent software. You have been hexed!!!!!
