Accessing hackable terminals

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 7:01 pm

Anyone else have this issue when attempting to hack a locked terminal (to open locked safes and doors)? When I attempt to hack the terminal in goodsprings, among other locked computers, the screen goes fuzzy and the sounds of a keyboard clicking can be heard. I exit out of the terminal and not only is the terminal still locked but strangely the item I'm attempting to unlock (safe, door, etc.) will become unlocked. However I don't receive and XP for hacking the computer. This has also happened when I had the 360 version and both copies are up to date with the latest patch. Even tried clearing all saved data, clearing the cache, trying it without hardcoe mode and without the preorder DLC. Heck even bought a better TV with better HDMI cables. Samething all around. Please let me know if anyone has a solution or at least had the same issue. BTW, even exchanged both copies from both systems and still had the same issue.

[censored] dude, you've tried everything. I've had the game freeze up on me when accessing a terminal multiple times, the screen goes blurry and it seems like the screen is about to come up but never does. my game always permanetly froze so it wasn't like what your describing. does this happen with every terminal? you may have to start a new game. do you have any perks that could've glitched it out like computer whiz maybe?

also, by you saying you cleared the system cache, I'm guessing you have an xbox. you may get better responses in the 360 section of hard/soft ware issues.

Have tried multiple times to start a new game, deleted all saved data and game data. No luck with any of those. And I had the 360 version but traded it in when I got a PS3, which I went and rebought the game. Both copies I've owned have done the samething. Only difference this time around is that on the PS3 version I can see the screen for terminals that can be accessed without needing to be hacked, but any terminal that needs to be hacked into won't display correctly. I know a few people had this problem on the 360.

Also, quick question. When you said the screen goes blurry and it seems frozen and may start working, have you tried exiting out of the screen or pressing any buttons to hear a keyboard typing sound?

I actualy sold my copy a while ago, but from what I remember the game would just freeze on a blurry screen, as if the terminal screen was about to display, but it never did, then it would occasionally start working again(only to freeze later) or permanently shutdown, so I never heard any keys as the game would be either completely frozen or start working.

although now that I think about it I do recall one or maybe two times that the game wouldn't be frozen, but it would be on the blurry screen w/o the terminal. I usually play with the volume turned down cuz I'm chillin with friends and listening to music, so I don't know if there were keyboard sounds. I think I eventually just turned the game off if it happened, and it didn't occur more than twice at the most.

it's odd that you would have the same problem on two different consoles, though. is there something similar your doing in your playthroughs in regards to maybe science skill or terminals/hacking?
