No matter what i do as soon as i try leaving onto the strip the game crashes and freezes as soon as the loading screen is over, goes into a black screen. I do not have a previous save outside the lucky 38 but even if i did it isnt a solution! So i either have to stop playing or start over which i probably wont since i have no guarantees it wont happen again.

It seem's a lot of people are having trouble getting into or even crashing while in the Strip, Since the first time i went in i always make sure im wearing an Old Cowboy Hat while entering or on the Strip, ive saved many time's inside and outside the Lucky 38.

If you have the item i suggested then equip it if possible, if not then i dont know what to suggest sorry

Yep, I'm in the same boat as you. There's no way around it without an Old Cowboy Hat (there's a Rawhide Cowboy Hat in the casino lobby - so close).

All we can do is wait for a patch, a patch that's probably never coming.

Thank you for both replies and ill try to see if i have that hat in my stash when i get home, but heres a question for you two, did you guys install the game on the Xbox? This only started having this issue when i installed the game but even deleting it didnt fix the issue.

I have it installed, but it happens regardless of your system setup. It's an error with the code of the game related to the Debt Collector quest.

I originally had the game installed but couldnt leave the building you start in at goodsprings (dirty disc error...its on the HDD!!!!!!!)

I just restarted the game and im playing from the disc (having it installed on HDD causes more problems apparently)

The strange thing is, i cant access the entire western part of the world map yet i can access the strip.... other people cant access the strip but have no world map problems as far as i know. Related?

At least you can leave the hotel to a degree. I'm stuck in my hotel room in the Lucky 38 with 30+ hours of playtime under my hat. I'm not restarting that nonsense. Not with how many times I had to redo stuff with the DLC error corrupting my saves.

nemt - you were right, the glitch does have to do with the debt collectors quest

I put on the hat I got from the guy I got the debt from (last debt quest) and I was able to get out and go hand in that quest... but after I handed in the quest I thought the glitch would go away but without wearing that hat I cant enter the strip again.

Nolan - Any idea where I can get my hands on an Old Cowboy Hat? I want to try that out since I know a sheriff's hat doesn't work and since you had luck with that hat I'm forced to have to carry that hat if i want to go to the strip.

There's one in the Crimson Caravan camp. I can't remember if it's laying around or if it's for sale.
