blackwater blade hidden ability

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 2:58 pm

I was trying out some of the old weapons i have lying around, and I noticed that the blackwater blade (quest reward from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:An_Unexpected_Voyage) was damaging the guards armor. It is enchanted with absorb fatigue 20pts for 12 seconds but it was clearly breaking their armor much more than any other weapon would. Is this some sort of scripted ability and doesn't require charges, or a glitch of some sort? the wiki doesn't say anything on the matter so i just a bit confused, and hoping that i can get a really good sword ;)

I checked it in the CS and there's no script attached to the sword, also there's nothing in it's enchantment about corroding armor, so looks like it may just be your imagination. Also you may have another piece of equipment on that has a corrode armor enchantment (though I'm not sure if that's even possible to put on armor).

Yeah, I did some testing, and it was just my imagination. I haven't played in a while, and I didn't remember the condition that the guards armor was at when they died before. During testing it was at about the same no matter what weapon I used, as long as it wasn't enchanted to do more damage.

I was trying do decide on whether to use blade or blunt on my new battlemage, and I guess I was just jumping at shadows trying to find a signature weapon for him. <_<

It′s a nice sword. The only problem I have with it is that it′s named Blackwater

Better than "Debaser". That sounds like some kind of kitchen appliance that you buy on TV from an annoying guy with a headset.

Well, I rather have that than a sword named after a paramilitary group

wuts wrong with blackwater? its a dark sword. i thot that was pretty cool. there are alot of things named blackwater. like blackwater bar and grill, blackwater river... its a common name. and it definitely describes the color of the blade.

Serious? never heard of blackwater. it actually sounds more like a failed band-project from the 70's.... which is not cool either....

I once lived in Blackwater. It's a small town in Hampshire in the UK.

Incidentally the Led Zeppelin track "Black Mountain Side" on their first album is really "Black Water Side" - stolen from Bert Jansch.

There seems to be a misconception about what 'paramilitary' means. Paramilitary groups are in no way malignant. Here in the United States most State Police are paramiltary groups. The Texas Rangers and the California Highway Patrol are both paramilitary groups. For cripes sake, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is a paramilitary group. I mean, you can't get more upstanding than Dudley Do-Right.

More importantly, the sword is not, as a poster claimed, named after a paramilitary group. They share a name. When two things share a name it does not automatically or necessarily mean that one of them is named after the other.

Maybe it isn′t named after them, but for me it′s enough that they share it

Btw, the SS and SA were also paramilitary. Every such group can be misused easily. Or for that matter, used for what they were intended.
Anyhow the sword is not that good other than in a collection

You could make a nord battlemage and name him Thor and give him a big hammer with a shock enchantment, and only use shock damage for damage spells and don't use fire or frost. Any enemy resistant to shock can simply be bashed with a hammer.
