I used to have a copy of DCotE ages ago, but it was lost to time. Today I decided to buy a new copy while Direct2Drive had it on sale for 5 bucks. It has been years since the release of the game and I remember hearing of various fan patches and mods to fix and improve on the game. So I thought this thread could be a good place to list mods/patches and what they do.

I've heard that there are a few gameplay and graphic updating mods, and I'd like to try them out myself. So what do you guys have, list them all!

there is also a thing for textures, but i forgot where to find it or what its called

Well I've found the fan patch which can be downloaded here, http://www.svcklead.com/DCoTEPatch.exe, but I haven't been able to find any of the graphics patches/mods. Can anybody link to any of those?

to be honest im not exactly sure what this does ( i think you can change textures, but they have to be the same size, which is 256x256, i think)

It's not really a patch like the unofficial patches for TES/FO. It doesn't fix any bugs, it just allows you to alter a few settings liking walking speed, maximum ammo, etc.


I think DCoTETex allows you to extract the textures from the game, but I don't know if you can use it to replace them. It has never been done as far as I know.

svcklead's 'patch' is the only thing that comes close to being a mod that there is for Call of Cthulhu as far as I know. So that's a short list.

I'd heard there was a mod that implemented bloom and HDR.

The game has bloom already.

There's the http://enbdev.com/index_en.html which technically works on Call of Cthulhu, but there's not much that can be done with it that could actually be considered an improvement.

i bought DCotE but i can't use the fan patch on my "CoCMainWin32.exe" because his size is incorrect for the DCotE patcher.
If i use an other .exe like this http://www.tahionic.com/computers/Call%20of%20Cthulhu%20-%20Dark%20Corners%20of%20the%20Earth/game%20cheats.html, my game doesn't run.

Have you find a solution The_Spaniard, for use the patch with our D2D version ?

Too bad this game is so abandoned its really fun and with a few updates it could have been the best Lovecraft adaptation ever...guess thats still Alone in the Dark
