Strange Ad... : Fallout: New Vegas

I just noticed something quite strange in a FO:NV ad....

Correct me if I'm wrong but the boxart for the PC version includes Games for Windows Live at the top of the box. Does this mean Bethesda is doing the right thing and dumping Steam or is for some strange reason including GFWL on a Steam title (which makes no sense unless for DLC)

It does not say Games for Windows LIVE. Just Games for Windows.

'Games of Windows' doesn't necessarily implies the presence of GFWL. In fact, that label can be put on a game that uses Steamworks, as FNV proves.

Games For Windows does not mean Games For Windows LIVE.

It simply means that the game is designed to run on Windows.

In fact, I have three games (Company of Heroes, World In Conflict and Supreme Commander) on my desk at the minute with the Games For Windows logo on and none of them use LIVE at all.

Games For Windows simply means you can use it with an Xbox 360 controller on the PC :mellow:

I've changed my views on Steam in the last couple of months. I've discovered its actually quite useful for somethings (steamcloud!)
Every Games for Windows game I've ever bought uses that Games for Windows software.

Also, I don't give a flying [censored] about gamerscore!

Gamerscore is something that should remain on console..

We went over this months ago, didn't we? Games for Windows yes, GFWL thankfully no. And yes, I am inserting my personal beliefs, as is my right

I'm not a huge fan of Steam, either, but I have no particular definable opposition to it, either.

i'm not sure why but my guess would be its a resource hog.
unless you manualy turn it off it constantly scans for updates to every game in your list.

...that isn't true. It checks often, but the resource hit from a single download and a few checks is minimal these days. If you're running a PC that's seriously affected by a few if statements you're not steam's target audience anyway, it's a gaming platform.

I wouldn't consider it a resource hog. It doesn't slow my computer at all.
