Melee character for [Honest Hearts]

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 11:58 pm

So since Honest Hearts is heavily tribal focused and with a lot of new Melee weapons, are you creating a new character that's Melee, Survival and INT 1?
I am, I haven't created a Melee character yet so this is my first one for New Vegas which is very fitting for Honest Hearts.

I've been using my melee character up to the release of HH

Im tempted but my chracter for NV so far was designed for Honest Hearts in April (back when it was coming "soon") and well its the not wanting to go though the start right now but dont want a over powered chracter for first play though (level 35) with more focus on guns and explosives and HH does have its fair share of guns.
I always feel bad aswell for not finshing a chracter at the end of NV, Might set the diffculty from normal to very hard or might reload an eariler leigion chracter though.
Any Ideas what I should do there

Already got my plans for my OWB chracter as a Mad Scientist (will go well with Dead moneys speical ending)

Well if you watch the trailer the tribals are packing a lot of heat in addition to their melee weapons so it's not forcing you to play melee, I've made 2 characters that used melle and it can be downright devastation with the right perks svck as piercing strike that gives you a 10 dt bypass this in addition to the last update giveing other weapons dt bypass like the chainsaw can make quick work of most anything the hardest part is closing the distance and dancing with the more dangerous melee enemies like deathclaws. 1 int isn't the best idea in the short term you'll be losing about 3 skill points per level I've cut mine to 4 and you'll want low luck since most melee weapons have a really low crit rate take those points and add them to endurance and agility and don't max strenght 8 is plenty you'll need the extra health.

Dude, lvl 40, you really don't need any more than 1 INT and can easily skip Educated as well.

I don't do specifically Melee builds. Melee is more of a supporting combat skill that hovers right around 50. I have created a new character though, with a separate save every five levels, just in case there is a recommended level for the DLC (as there was for DM), and also just in case it is not a very high recommendation (as it was with DM).

I did this back in The Pitt, because i wanted to wield that "Man Eater" or whatever it was called, with efficiency.

But I dunno if I'll do this again, the tribal clubs don't appeal to me personally.

-Actually the Gecko Fire Sword sounds cool... I dunno we'll see...

I am not really a fan of melee combat, however I will probably run at least one character who does specialize in it through the DLC.

The first character I am taking through is my newest one, who happens to be an EW specialist, so it should be interesting to see how he does. I'm keeping him at a relatively low level so that I have room for any new level-granted perks, however I do have Science and Lockpick maxed just in case there are difficult places to get into.

no. ill be playing it on my guns character, then my EW, and when all 4 are released ill play them on my Expl/EW character. then at a currently unknown date in the future, lets call it....soon. ill make a melee/guns character.

and i hate melee combat, in real life and in games, its boring. ill just use whatever crap pistol they give me on a lower difficulty (or hopefully, my own stuff) until i find something good that goes with that character.

i know a lot of you like to be taken out of your "comfort zone", but homie dont play that. i dont want all my playthroughs of the dlc to be the same because all i get is a club, a 1911, and some bikini.

Yeah your right but hell I'm at 32 and have done pretty much everything so yeah assuming your willing to gring to 40 having 1 int wouldn't be an issue but I just don't see a lot of people doing everything and then grinding the remaining 7 or 8 levels and its still going to seriously hurt you early on.

I had an all melee character on my old hard drive. Took me a long time to perfect him, and that's not something I'm interested in doing over 4 days. I'll just use my level 35 guns character.

I was planning on using my Legion character seeing as he's already melee/unarmed. By far the most fun character I have, even more fun then my sniper
