The Return of Ringo

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 11:18 pm

Running through with a new character, and I just passed by Ringo at Crimson Caravan. You ask him "What's next for you?" And get the response that he'll be running a caravan up to Utah, soon, seeing as the Crimson Caravan doesn't have any contacts up in New Canaan. The story of Honest Hearts is that we are with a Caravan and get ambushed in Zion National Park... in Utah.

Could it be we get to travel with Ringo (or his replacement if you killed his Beatle-y ass?)

I would love to travel with Ringo. And now I'll be disappointed if he's nowhere to be found in the DLC. Thanks. ;)

I thought this at first too. But since since the DLC's are suppose to activate anywhere, anytime regardless of our progress in the game it would present somewhat of an obstacle for starting a new game. If they used Ringo would the DLC simply be put on hold until you help him out with the powder gangers and he gets to the Crimson Caravan? That just seems like an extra step the developers would just as soon avoid. No I imagine whoever is heading the caravan to Zion is either in the caravan business for himself or some "here's an npc for crimson caravan we created JUST for this DLC." I also remember somebody mentioning it could be somebody in competition with crimson caravan (like Far Go traders from F1) could be heading there.

I mean helping Ringo out and then having him activate the DLC for HH wouldn't really be that big of an issue for a new game but I imagine it's something the developers avoided.

Stop being sensible!
...but sadly, I'd agree. I'd imagine it'll be all-new npc's. Ringo's twin brother?

Exactly. That's the problem. What if you killed him? What if you're reviled by the Crimson Caravan? They would then have to produce an alternate start for the DLC. Maybe they could use Ringo/Dale Barton. It would be interesting for it to tie in with existing characters, but it seems like quite a bit of work just for a small shout out. What if you killed all the vendors?

-Gunny out.

Doubt he actually goes there, but perhaps he'll provide special dialog upon Honest Heart's main quest completion, just like Veronica with Dead Money.

Good point, I was actually hoping Ringo was a follower when I first met him.

What about the players who killed Cass/had her killed? Cass won't be the DLC starter, neither will Ringo.

I personally think that it would intrude on the main story line. DlC's tend to avoid that kind of stuff. But i think that what RIngo says goes to show that New Canaan could be a popular area for caravans.

Just like there can be no continuation of the end of the game there can not be a continuation of someone you could have killed.

Those are the consequences of all the choices.

Ringo can t be in a dlc....... Maybe some new person from Crimson Caravan, but not Ringo.

We re talking hypothetically here............ I could have had Cass killed too. Why would I care where her dad is? No one from the game can possibly be in the dlc, but you and maybe your followers.

The consequences of all the choices..........

He's going to have a part in the DLC, but probably not one that's story critical. No offense intended to the devs, but while the game was buggy and unbalanced as all hell, the story was nearly air tight. The Mojave Wasteland has a complex web of interconnecting quest lines and interactions, and for the most part, it was pulled off without a hitch.

If he is alive in the dlc it will be story murder.

Air tight interconnecting story lines?

We must have played two different games.
