A new idea about the handling of taking equipment into DLC's

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:45 pm

I was thinking how about when(IF) we have our equipment taken by tribals then how about when we get to the DLC, a side quest pops up allowing us to do the quest to get our equipment back, this way people who want their equipment can have it, and the people who don't, can just leave the quest.

discuss?

Do able but it would unbalance the dlc letting you get your equipment back right away since then you should be able to just keep it or walk in with nothing if thats what you want, if it happened near the end of the MQ I think that would work better since you should have decent equipment by then anyway.

That would at least cut out most of the complaints about having your gear taken away. It would allow people who don't like it to go grab their gear right off and those who do like it to just skip that quest until later in the dlc. But like I just posted in the other thread. They always give you so much gear in the dlc that if you take anything in you would find yourself quickly weighted down.. If you like collecting stuff then going into a dlc with all your gear is pretty detrimental to getting all the stuff out of the dlc.. The long walk when over burdened isn't really that fun. (Although I did end up doing the long walk anyway to get all the gold bars out of Dead Money.) :P

wow it's simple yet affective!!!!!!! Why haven't they done this ???????????????????? I worked hard 2 make my gear the way i want i have over 1000 stimpaks and mod's on all my weapons just so i can kill everything that moves but they always take them and make me less affective in DLC's

There were 37 gold bars at 35 wu a piece meaning if you had taken 35 bars out with you it would have been 1225 wu. Since carrying max is 300 anything above that requires escaping while overencumbered so you might as well take them all. If you're taking all the unique items out of the DLC then you could probably only take 2-4 bars out. It's pretty easy to get all the gold though, plenty of youtube tutorials showing how to do it.

On Topic this is a good idea, I'd be a little worried about my gear not making it back to the Mojave if I decided not to take my gear for the DLC. Then again you can return to this DLC at least and complete the quest whenever you want. A Mojave express mailbox would be nice as well for stocking up on loot without worrying about encumberance and you could collect your gear and send back weapons and armor you don't plan on using.

I understand taking equipment away to make it more difficult but we already went through that with Dead Money. The whole cool thing about DLC's is going up against new challenges with your stuff. What's the point of having anything if they just keep taking it away? Gets old to me at least

Or we could get it back when we go to the tribals base

*sigh*.... I really don't trust Gamebryo to give me back my things. In Fallout 3, I had Xuanlong's Rifle and Occam's Razor disappear from my inventory twice, even though I had done nothing. Also had my gear disappear from The Pitt's locker on my first time through it.

I'd like to see a way to take one or two pieces of equipment in, maybe you bury some equipment in a secure location and come back for it early on in the new location?
The Pitt let you smuggle a knife or gun, considering that we have holdout weapons in NV, I don't see why we couldn't hide something on our person...
