Well, I`m hyped for New Vegas All over again! And so, The thought keeps coming back to me.. About this one amazing book from Stephen King. "The Stand".

Of course, alot of you have probably never heard of it.. And others have. But Am I the ONLY one who`s going to have awesome flashbacks from this book when I`m playing the game (As it takes place in the general area of Las Vegas) ?

Just thought I would make this topic for the heck of it, and to get the thoughts of those who have read the book (Or seen the movie) ^_^

Every time I pick up a Stephen King novel, I get 25% of the way in before the guy loses me and I lose my patience with him. His movies are not much better. Big buildups with not a lot of satisfaction at the end.

I have not read the book but is that not the one where most of the population of the earth dies off from some disease? If so maybe you will get flash backs but I don't see how. Vegas in the game is going to be very populated. Unless you're just talking about the desert areas.

I've not read any books of Stephen King but I've seen the movie adaptions of some and I love 'em all. Especially The Mist. But The Stand is awesome aswell, although I've only seen like 2/3 of it. A friend have it and I never got to watch the whole thing.

I won't because we all didn't die from a virus, but it also has been a long time since I've read it which may make a difference.

It was Tom Cullen, Laws yes. (Oh my god, It's not a Vampire Cullen for once!).

But Trash-Can man was one of my favourite characters.

Another thing. I know the world didn't Perish from the plague in the game. But that's what My imagination is for, isn't it?
Aswell as saying that there were over 20,000 (Rough Guess) people in Vegas in the book.

All of this to say, that one day, I SHALL make the characters from The Stand once I beat it xD

I always wanted to make a Randal Flagg for Fallout 3, perhaps I'll do that for New Vegas.

I just finished reading The Stand a month or so ago, and the world of it so closely resembles that of fallout that I couldnt help imagining roaming the world as if it was the waste. I will definetly have to RP as some of the chracters especially Trash Can, and maybe even Tom.

Since I've never read the book (really, I haven't read any of Stephen King's books, though I've watched some of the movies based on them, but if there's a movie adaptation of this one, I haven't watched it.) so no, I won't have flashbacks to it. Though I'm not sure taking place in Vegas would be enough of a similarity to cause those anyway, considering lots of stories use that city as a setting, of course, being a post apocalyptic world, that narrows things down somewhat. Still, in Fallout it was a nuclear war, not a virus, and New Vegas actually seems to be a pretty populated place as far as post apolyptic communities go, so going by what I've seen in this thread, it sounds like things will still feel pretty different.

Then watch the movie. It's really really long, so it's divided into four parts. I think it's great, I'm never too much of the christian themes but that's whatever Cool characters make up for that.
