To the devs

I have just spent my hard earned 60 dollars on a extremely horrible game called Crysis 2. I am primarily a PC gamer and proud to be one. The original Crysis was relatively bug free and not a crappy console port. It's been a week and till now I haven't been able to play a multiplayer game on their ranked servers successfully. As you very well know Crytek jumped ship to make consoles their primary target. Well guess what? Their game on the PC is substandard and even all those beautiful graphics don't help save it. From what I hear even the Playstation 3 counterpart didn't fare so well. Only the Xbox 360 version is relatively better.

You have been mainly showing footage for the 360 till now. I really don't mind that. I don't even care if you don't have a PC beta or even any PC footage till release day. But please make sure the game is not packed with bugs. I know this game has been in development for five years or more and I can also tell you I have never had any major issues with any Id software games. I used to play Doom 3 on 384 mb Ram and an ATI 9200, it worked beautifully. Please make sure all three platforms have the quality they deserve and that the user Interfaces and controls are designed for the specific platform.

Ok. But let me mention that this game will have bugs. All games, especially Bethesda games, have bugs. Just keep Crysis 2 for a while and when it's patched, I'm sure it will be a great game.

But this is an id software game, Bethesda is the publisher.

I too hope that the PC version will be relatively bug free (of course there will be glitches here and there, but no gamebraking stuff/unplayable multi please). I also hope it has fully customizable graphics, proper FOV, aiming/movement that feels good on mouse&keyboard, proper menus/UI for PC, mod tools and dedicated servers for multi. These things used to be considered basic for a PC game, but they don't go without saying anymore unfortunately. I'm sure id knows what PC gamers want, I just hope they care enough...

Oh, and no GfWL or Gamespy please. Steamworks is okay tho.

Sorry, this might have been confusing, only the first sentence was a reply to you, because you said Bethesda games are usually buggy, which is true I guess, but Rage is an id game, and their games are usually less buggy.

The rest of my comment was a reply to the general topic (the state of the PC versions of multiplat games, missing features, ui/controls not designed for the platform etc).

It's sad how even proper UI and advanced options need to be demanded for PC games now a days. I'm sure Crysis 2 will be a great game in the future but I will stop caring by then because I might have portal 2 or brink or even battlefield 3. This is just me but I feel they lost their user base over a buggy launch and with such a packed release schedule how many are actually going to wait for slow updates for things that should have already been in there. Sadly the beta felt more polished than the full game, at the very least I could connect and play. The poor UI is just a minor annoyance but not being able to connect is just a deal breaker right there. As I said before I haven't had major issues with id games but this is the first time they are doing multi-platform development simultaneously. I don't want them to get swayed by either of the consoles.

i have to agree -- do some research before you start tossing money at something just because it looks good. rage is essentially id's new tech demo. same thing for crytek and crysis 2. very pretty yes... but don't expect too much gameplay-wise.

Dunno, to me id shooters have always had more compelling gameplay than overhyped trash like CoD and it's ilk, which want to be "cinematic experiences" more than video games...

I'm excited about Rage more because of the setting, the new gameplay additions, and the usual solid shooting mechanics expected of id games, than because of the technology behind it.
