Co-op iconnection issues, cannot join

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:38 am

My brother and I are, like many other people, having issues that prevent us from playing in co-op. He's already forwarded the port people think is supposed to be forwarded, he hasn't tried DMZ mode yet though reports show that's not working either.

He is using a router (I don't), so tonight he'll try directly connecting to his modem to see if that doesn't work.

Are people with this issue using routers? Has anyone not encountered this at all, and what's your setup? Anyone fixed this through arcane techno-sorcery?

Me and my buddy were having the same issue. He couldn't even get a timed out message when trying to connect to me, but I could at least start the process of joining him until I timed out. We're both behind routers, although he is cable modem -> router -> comptuer, where I am cablemodem + router -> computer. I think it's my crappy cable modem/router unit that's screwing it all up. So, instead of him connecting to me, he plugged directly into his modem and viola! I was able to connect to him.

I have Charter internet with a combo cablemodem/router. svcks, but at least I can connect and most importantly - PLAY WITH MY FRIEND!!!

Most people open port forward 27015 and 27016 but forget to forward 8766.

MAKE sure you forward those ports, it certainly fixed the issue for me, :)

I wish this was the solution for everyone, unfortunately that is not the case. A friend and I have both opened all the proper ports to no avail. I'm not going to gripe or scream, but this is annoying and I do hope it is fixed soon.
