I've been having the CTD about 2 seconds into the intro for a while now, but I finally found a fix. It turns out it was one of my codecs...I don't know which one because I disabled all of them, and the game works wonderfully now. Haven't had a single crash, although the frame rate is a tad choppy here and there.

I used this program, hit select all, and disabled every codec, and the game worked.

I'm on a Core i7, ATI 5730, lenovo laptop, with a steam digital version.

Good luck to everybody who is still unable to get into the game, I feel your pain, and hope that Obdisian fixes this soon.
