[REQ] GUNS ARE LOUND!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:46 am

Stealthy people, like me, may have noticed that people tend to just not "hear" gun shots when you pop their buddy right next to them. They seem to un bothered by the bullets wizzing by, until one lands and their head explodes.

It might just be me, but i popped like 3 bandits from maybe not but 50-100 yards off with my varmint rifle, and the only time they figured it out is when the second guy didnt die instantly. Otherwise their buddy's head just arbitrarily exploded next to him, no biggie, happened to fred last week too, so it must be normal rite?

Perhaps its just me, but i've noticed quirks like this that really get to me. Is there a way to make enemies alert to your position from farther away when NOT using a silenced weapon? It shouldnt be 100%, such as the time i was taking out guards in the NCR powder gangers prison, while camped up on the hillside, but the alert ranges should be far greater. I mean i've blasted people from 20-30 feet away and they've not noticed until i didnt ohk some one. Even if i missed and hit something near by, it didnt seem to get them to perk up and go "wtf?"

I'm thinking it would be also good if bullets from a silenced gun would put enemies into caution if they hit something near them, but not necessarily right away if they hit the guy next to them.

There's a (complex) mod by schlangster for FO3 that does that - Responsive Kill Reactions.

From the readme it doesn't look like it needs FOSE, so hopefully it can get ported regardless of whether we get NVSE or not. Just have to hope schlangster is still active in the mod scene :)

Cool =D you didnt even point out (while laughing at that) that the title was typo'd... Thanks lol. Though you did lose me 5$ on a bet :sadvaultboy:

Anywho, have the name of this/link? I think maybe one of the conversion wizards around here could take a looksie, or i'd work on it myself. I'm getting kinda bored with how easy it is. I popped 5 guys in a row (standing 5 ft together in a blob) while probably 40 feet away, and people were dropping like flies in a vacuum and didnt notice. that includes the exploding part too btw.

I just hate how, regardless of your distance, when you pop one guy in the head his buddy standing right next to him just sits there and says, "By god Bill! Where did your head go?"

I was using this mod for a while in FO3 and I found everything got a little too reactive. It just really came down to their 'alert' stage sending them straight to me rather than a more investigative search of the area. With a noisy weapon this is expected but even silenced weapons seemed to end with this sort of reaction. I really would love to see this sort of thing ported to NV, because a decently equipped stealth character really ends up way too overpowered in the long run :P

I've also noticed this when trying to snipe people, and it does get annoying. Even if I am using a silenced weapon, they should still react a little bit when they see a guy go down right in front of their face.

I've also had quite a few instances where I'll miss someone's head by, literally, a fraction of an inch, and they'll act like nothing even happened.

Hopefully stuff like this can be fixed.
