A mod like Passive Critters for FONV

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:00 pm

I know that it's just a game, but I definitely don't want to kill animals. This is one thing that always annoys me, how in every game the story and the NPCs always seem to consider killing animals a normal, futile thing -- go there and kill 20 whatever. "My girl is surrounded by geckos, could you..." to hell with your girl then, let her rot. :D

Seriously now, for FO3 there was a mod called Passive Critters, a must-have for me.

But in the New Vegas Nexus site I found nothing, browsing the categories oe even using the advanced search.

Is there anything like that out there?

Thanks.

The game just came out yesterday. I'm sure a mod like that will come out eventually, but all modders are probably getting used to the new features in the new GECK, and making bugfixes, rather than working on new features

I hope the passive creatures will be logical and realistic. I can't see a giant radscorpion being all that passive, nor a coyote den mother when you get too close to her pups.

I would like them not to be instantly hostile though.

Aside: There is a perk available that makes animals not attack you, and even help you in combat on the second rank.

Of course. I was just asking if somethig had already been released. ;)

Yes I know about the perk, but it would take a while before I could get it (I never use cheat codes)...

Thank you both for the answers.

Eh I'll try knocking something out tomorrow, there's a butt load of standard mobs(roaches/dogs/etc) that are used in the game and I'd rather kill the aggression properly rather than half-baked or break something.

I think it's already in-game.

I just ran into some coyotes. They didn't aggro at all. However, they hunkered down and started growling when I got too close... so I backed away.

But last night with Radscoropions... #&$@ing Radscorpions. I had 10 of the damn things chasing me when I was trying to get to the Mojave Outpost. The ghoulies around there I could hack down easy enough, because they don't have a carapace. But the scorps... urg.

Yeah you really need armor piercing ammo or shotgun slugs to hurt them, and the giant radscorpions are fast as hell and caught me even at a dead run.

That could have been a bug, but if you're sneaking their aggro range is base 1024(coyote), I had a scorp last night get all cranky but not even attack when I was standing on it's head.. Radscorps however yeah, they're tough. I suggest fire, forget AP rounds. Fire works really good. As it stands I think there's a few bugs in some of the attack scripts.

Anywho. Just starting to look at all the critter AI data it'll be a bit.

Go nuts, should work fine did a bit of testing on it. No scorps/flies/rats/mantis/dogs/coyotes to chew on you now. Any problems leave a comment.

Loaded a second file, that includes passive gecko's. However the goldens will still chew on your legs until you die. Or bite through lead pipes to get ya.

Wow, thanks A LOT! Can't I add rep?

I'll download it right away. :celebration:

EDIT: I'm using the one with the passive geckos. Once (just once) I had to kill one (he was attacking me) -- the noise he made when dying just broke my heart; I even realoaded my game.

BTW: I'm at the Vicky and Vance Casino in Primm right now, but I'll give you a feedback once I reach the wilderness again.

heh :) If you see anything funky let me know. If there was a mob in an existing cell or was supposed to respawn in theory it'll use old AI data. I'm pretty sure I got all the gecko's and that, mighta missed something. If you find something other than the goldens chewing on you try to get me the name or ref. id, or roughly the area so I can double check.

No problem, I'll do that (write down the ref, id).

Thanks a bunch again. ;)

Sorry to say that Mashiki, but apparently it doesn't work.

I just left Primm, and the very first 2 animals I ran into attacked me on sight: a coyote (001172730) and her puppy (0017b04a)...

EDIT: Sorry, it seems that I was too hasty in saying that: other then those two, so far the other animals seem to like me. :)
