WTF just happend?!

so im probebly 20 hours into the game now and i tried entering the strip and its says key required on the gate... WTF i cant even beat the game now because im block out of the strip the key just vanished from my inventory and now im [censored]. anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it

This sounds like a question for hints/spoilers. The obvious possibilities are you're below the credit check value or you left the passport somewhere.

Did you talk to the robots? They require that you have at LEAST 2,000 caps in order to let you in the gate. At least on the Xbox anyway.
