A thread on stats

I can't wait to pick this game up after work!

I remember in FO3, it was very important to carefully select stats as certain ones benefited the character in different ways i.e. Luck gave +.5 to every stat or something. I'm not familiar with the stats in FONV, but can someone with knowledge and/or experience shed some light on the "inner workings" of each stat?

Much appreciated!

SPECIAL works mostly the same way as it did in Fallout 3 except Strength influences unarmed damage, Perception influences accuracy with all weapons, Charisma makes your companions last longer in a firefight, and Luck causes the enemy to make critical mistakes in combat.
