How do you create new worldspaces?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 12:03 pm

My mod team and I need to create a huge, flat expanse of land, surrounded by water...a tropical island...it doesnt have to be square, in fact I'd rather it wasn't.

I know in FO3 this was a nightmare.

Has it gotten any better in new vegas? I know I've seen one or two mods out already that have new worldspaces.

Also, I am looking for someone experienced in this sort of thing to maybe volunteer to join the team long enough to create this space? (maybe a week or two..or permanently if you wanna keep helping!).

I am straight up dead serious on doing this and I really could use both some answers and some help!

Right now my team is down to me and Esrafael, and it's a lot of work for both of us already.

Ok I have a tutorial on making worldspaces and it makes sense so far.

Does anyone out there have a good .dds of blank sand or other terrain I can use with no details on it? i.e. no roads, rivers, yadda yadda.

If not...I hate to ask, but would anyone be willing to 'one off' an island that would fit in 512x512 with a HUGE military base in the center of the largest section of the island?...basically I need a picture of water with a landmass in the middle of the water, and a base on the landmass.

The base needs to be the size of Las Vegas, roughly, or at least the strip and a bit more.

Basically Im going to be building a 4x4 or 6x6 square block of areas, set up like the strip, delineated by tall walls with gates in them. This will form different areas of a huge military base.

I'm really hurting for a .dds map right now...can't really work on the worldspace without it.

Yes, you can make your worldspace without it. Make the landscape as you want, THEN form the map based off that.

http://www.theengineeringguild.co.uk/fallout-3-creating-worldspaces-the-easy-way

It was written primarily for FO3, but works the same way for New Vegas.

There is an issue with not being able to make a copy of NV worldspaces.....unless someone has found a "fix" for it

The only "fix" I know of is "Don't copy worldspaces. Build from scratch." That tutorial I posted works pretty well;the only thing it doesn't explain how to do is LODs (which were broken on FO3's GECK, and probably are in FNV's) but it tells you how to work around them instead.

Good info!

The tutorial says "ESM World Spaces can be painted and can use Static Objects safely".

What other types of objects can be safely placed if you want to stick with an esm?

Thanks
