Best way to get rid of corpses?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:46 pm

Do corpses decay in this game? If so, how long does it take?

I'm not a fan of the Powder Ganger corpses laying in front of the Saloon. What is the best way to git rid of them?

I tried taking them into the schoolhouse, but it doesn't look like you can take them through the door. I also thought about taking them to the graveyard and putting them in my old hole, but they'd still be visible.

I also went in the console, selected the corpse, and typed 'disable', but that didn't do anything.

I was able to issue a setactoralpha and make them invisible, but I was wondering what other options I might have. What is the best method?

Cobb is probably marked as persistent.

If he really bugs you, take whatever you wanted off of him that you haven't already, open the console, click his corpse, check to see that it says "Joe Cobb" at the top, and then enter the command "disable" into the console. Poof!

We need a mod like the "Decompose Corpse" from Oblivion, I always loved that mod and used it a lot, maybe someone could script a a NV version, I'm sure someone could come up with an inventive way to implement it.

Its easy. Just drag em to a place you dont go. Id suggest dumping them in a bush or behind a bulding you dont tend to go behind. You could if realy irked about it dump em all into the pit over by where the cyotes roam. or behind the gas station.

Joe Cobb has been lying posed on the Saloon pool table missing his head for months now.

I haven't personally used this mod, but it looks quite promising: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37935

Thats a very nice mod, and thats saying alot seeing how picky I am

It's not a bug, as it's an intended feature, but the creator has stated that that NPC is dead forevor, so it may not be a good idea for those wanting an area where enemies respawn.

I just drag the bodies around a rock or in a ditch or somewhere I don't have to see them when cruising through town.

I "clean up the streets" with a ripper. Just take the ripper and slash the bodies, after a while, it should explode into many little pieces. Makes it a lot less obvious that someone died there.

Thanks for all the info. I took a look at what that mod and all it is doing is disabling the corpses, marking them for deletion, and making them invisible. I guess I'll stick with my method of making them invisible. I'm guessing the game should still do its normal clean up with them invisible; I just won't have to look at them now while I wait for the game to get rid of them.

Well it could work for people like Joe Cobb, Cook-Cook or another named baddies. Or do they respawn again? As a normal powder ganger/raider etc.?

No, they don't.

Also, am I the only one who likes the fact that bodies stay around, when I kill someone I like the fact that people know it...I wish there was some way to sign the bodies actually, get a nail and some paper and leave a note.

I think it's called the grave.

Corpses of generic NPCs and creatures actually respawn back to life, they never truly disappear. Give it a try, drag several dead powder gangers into Goodsprings and wait three days. They'll come back to life to terrorize the townsfolk, it's a cycle that repeats over and over again.

Oh god, I hope not. I made them all invisible.
