Since yesterday, after I launch the game the launcher stays open in the background in a "not responding" state and gobbles CPU cycles. If I don't alt tab out and end the process, my game runs poor. Occasionally it'll crash immediately upon clicking the game on my Steam Library. Sometimes I'll crash when I hit play, but these are more rare. It doesn't seem to happen on relaunches, just the first time per windows (or maybe Steam?) boot.
