Pip-Boy 3500, A Readius Re-Texture

A fan of the Readius mod, but feel like it doesn't have that 'Fallout' style? Look no further friend, as the Pip-Boy 3500 re-texture may be for you!

Paying homage to the early Fallout games, the Pipboy 3500 re-texture combines the classic style of the Pipboy 2000 with Fallout 3/New Vegas' Pipboy 3000 to create one sleek, if slightly banged up, package.

But don't take my word for it, take a look for yourself!
Available in current http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/37250-2-1289940399.jpg, or classic http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/37250-1-1289940398.jpg flavors!

Now also features light up http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/37250-4-1289937034.jpg!

Download at http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37250

This is simply a re-skin of the http:///www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36646, and requires it to work properly.

This also includes optional files to change the color of the Stats/Items/Data buttons to one of the four default Pipboy UI colors, Amber, Blue, Green or White, and files that will restore the default Pipboy sound effects that will work with the current.bsa version of the Readius mod.

Credits go to AlexScorpion and Brianide for the excellent, original Pipboy Readius mod.

Now that is more like it! I haven't been using the Readius primarily because I didn't think it fit the Fallout feel all that well. This fixes that issue very well.

That was the game plan, :) If anyone finds any issues with it, or has any suggestions, please, let me know.

Great work, just as Langy I didn't want to use Readius before as it ruined the mood for me to bring up a modern PDA.

Noticed something though, the lights and highlighted text doesn't stay lit when un/re-equpping the pipboy. So if you go to Items, it will light up, if you exit the pipboy and take it back up all lights are off.

I know what you're talking about, and it's something to do with the scripts from the Readius itself, which, I know nothing about unfortunately. I want to try to take a stab at fixing it, but even then, I'm not sure if re-packaging the .esp file would be allowed by the original authors.

I have only one suggestion - well, more of a request. Just for the sake of nostalgia, I'd love to see the return of the broken and faded button from the original Fallouts.

Even without it, this is an excellent retexture.

I really wish I had a gaming PC for little things like that.
I miss the epicness of the originals.

Very Nice! I will be using this for sure, much more in keeping with the feel of the game than the original readius skin, thanks.

I wanted to add this as well, I really did, but sadly, I just couldn't figure out a way to get it in there. The three buttons being part of the model itself limited what all I could do with the re-texture.

Very cool.

One question, though.

I wouldn't mind tinkering with this in the GECK, and I was wondering, is it possible for this to replace the Pimp-Boy 3000 instead of the standard Pip-Boy? That Pimp-Boy has never sat well with me, and this seems like a much more appropriate upgrade. :)

Ah, not a bad idea! It could be possible, but, I wouldn't know where to begin, as I just re-textured the original, and scripting isn't my forte. If you can get it working though, that sounds like a great idea. I'd be sure to get approval from Alexscorpion before releasing it though.

This is just a 'detail' critique, so I don't mean offense (As I'm a console user, but some mods are just outright beautiful)

If you want to add a more 'aged' feel (Assuming this is what you aimed for), have you ever considered (if possible) giving the wires a dirty or faded appearance? Maybe add a little more fade dulling of color to the caution tape?

(Like I said, please don't take any offense, I'm just offering interesting ideas I noted when looking at some of the Screenshots :) )

Ah, none taken, I appreciate the feedback! The colors are fairly de-saturated, it's just that I was using a weather mod that added a bit more saturation overall when I took those screenshots. I know, I know, shame on me. It's one of those things where it looks better in game, heh.

Overall, I was trying to match the colors of the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pip-Boy_2000 for the wires and caution tape. However, I'll definitely keep this in mind if I think of any new bits to add to it for a new version!

Speaking of which, nobody knows how to create 'pulsing' glows, like on the Alien Blaster, in NifSkope, do they? :P

*EDIT* In fact, looking at two screenshots I posted, it is pretty dang colorful isn't it? Hrm...

Call it the Pip-Boy 4000 and it'll be perfect.

This is awesome. My only issue is with the whole "currently selected item isn't lit up upon re-opening" thing Readius has, but that's hardly your fault.

I've uploaded a new version that makes the 3500 more banged up, and includes options for the Pip Boy, Vault Boy, and Lil Pip 3000 mascots.
