new patch details comes out in few weeks?

Bethesda have confirmed a new patch is making its way to the public for all platforms of Fallout: New Vegas, which will improve the general stability and performance of the game. This patch is apparently being released in advance of the second piece of downloadable content, which will be announced “very soon”. The patch will become available in “the next couple of weeks” as it has already been handed off to the necessary platform owners, although the PC version will likely hit first.

“So what’s in that patch? First and foremost, optimizations and stability improvements.” says Jason Bergman, the game’s senior producer. “While there are bug fixes, our core focus was on improving stability and performance. We worked directly with first party platform owners to identify issues, and we have fixed a great deal of the crashes and lockups that people were experiencing. In addition, we scoured the forums and this patch includes weapon balance tweaks and other requested fixes.”

Most likely the game even after the patch will continue to be the glitchy mess it is... It's a shame, i love the gameplay and the game itself but the technical issues are difficult to put behind. It's literally a piece of garbage in that aspect, i'm sorry...
NO GAME should ever be released in this state, it's absurd but this game has frozen my PS3 40 or more times until i got to finish it. No joke!
Is this normal? Nope, I don't think so! And i'm afraid it might even break my PS3, turning off your console like that all the time is not healthy at all.

Bottomline, i will never buy another game made by you guys, unless you manage to work on a much better and STABLE engine.

Sincerely, an unhappy customer.

I will give them a chance as I waited for F3 GoTY edition before abandoning PC gaming and it was far more stable but they had alot more time to polish it. Yes New Vegas has serious issues and it could have been handled better but with DLC still coming out all is not lost. When no more DLC appears and the Devs abandon the forums then its time to worry.

The only blame that Obsidian/Beth have is that they could've delayed New Vegas for a couple of months. Gamebryo should be getting the burner right now because that's the main culprit. :flamethrower:

Hopefully this patch fixes as much stability as it possibly can although I'm skeptical.

i realy think we will all be dissapointed with the patch as last time they released a patch i didnt notice a difference i was still crashing twice an hour and when dlc comes out i can see it being worse cause after dm the game was way way way more glitchy but hopefully they have learned from old mistakes and actualy put time into the patch and not a rush job but imo i think there not to worried with the devs being busy with other titles atm as they most probaly new from the start they were flogging a dead horse :sadvaultboy:
but i do love the game im just lookin to the future when i can play a fallout game without fear of it crashing :brokencomputer:

Well time for me to put my two cents in:

I have about 55+ hours into this game and my character is lvl 32. Didnt have much freezing problems in the beginning. I did have some, so I took the precautions by cutting off the radio(which su cks because its quiet and no music to listen to), turning the kill cam off, turning auto save off(only for sleeping I have it on), clearing out the game data, walking slow so the background has time to load(sometimes I stop walking completely because it gets so bad), save often, and i create new save no over-writing. But now holy sh it. Freezing a lot and frame rate drops/ choppy-ness. I started noticing that the game started to freeze a lot when my save files hit around 6 to 7 mb. now my save files are at 8mb. and I cant play no more than 30 min if that at a time. now I'm sad to say my original launch date 60gb ps3 died last week (which svcks because I still have those nostalgic ps1 and ps2 games i still like to play). I was playing fallout when it happen. I'm not saying fallout killed my ps3 but I'm sure it didnt help with all the freezing and hard shutdowns on it. and I have always kept good care of my ps3. I kept it dust free, no smoking in my room or around it, vacuumed out once a month, and I wipe it down with a micro-fiber cloth(keep it nice and shiny). Now I just bought the 320gb ps3 with the move bundle for $350 a couple of days ago, pretty good deal I believe, move is pretty fun too. but I havnt played fallout on it yet. because I'm a little worried about it to tell the truth. i have the dlc dead money for it, havnt played that yet. so the jist of my story is the game freezes a lot when you get big save files, a lot of frame rate drops in some places, but the game is a great game to play when it works right(not counting the freezing and countless bugs/glitches). and for the people that say they never had a problem, have 80+ hours no problems, or 1 or 2 freezes here n there, please by all means go buy a lotto ticket and when you win hit me up. peace

I think it sounds somewhat hopeful. At least they mention stability as one of the main issues they address in this patch. But I won't believe it until it's released and the community approves. If that happens I guess I'll finally get the game...

Well this could be interesting!

...A stupid question.. but when this new patch arrives... how would one aquire it? Or will it just update automatically? Sorry, I'm not really up to date with how console updates work.

It'll update automatically when you start the game.

As most have already mentioned, I don't think this patch or any patch will fix the freezing. My last play with this game froze within 10 minutes. I have shelved this game after 35 hours and with a save game of 6mb. Kinda sad since I got the CE of the game too. Let's see how Borderlands GOTY goes. I picked that up recently and it's been pretty good so far.

They've said a " few weeks" a few weeks ago and they're saying it again. So we end up with "a few months" So I don't know, Fallout NV is on my shelf gathering dust and I'm sure it'll be there for a while. DA2 will get a patch next week though, and it will actually fix something, since bioware are releasing patch notes weeks before the patch release. Would be nice to get that from Bethesda.

Can't fix freezing issues post launch, the best they can do is tidy up the frame rate and fix graphical problems.

Who knows, maybe we can go near Forlorn Hope after this patch.
