How do I play?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:15 am

Ok so I'm looking for some advice on how to play this game. I know it is possible because I have a couple of friends at work who have completed it!

However when I try to play I run into the following problems -

Entering any building I am greeted with a loading screen for 2 - 3 seconds and then the game hangs on a black screen.
Attempting to save the game via the pause menu causes the game to hang.
Attempting to fast travel causes the game to hang.
Wondering around the wilds for 5 - 10 minutes causes the game to hang.

At the start of the game it was working fine, I'm not too far in maybe about 5 hours or so (I was trying to go to the Repconn factory near Novac). Rolling back to an older save does not help; this is the second time I have had to start again so that's not an option either.

Can anyone tell me how to get around this or can a mod tell me if the new patch is going to address these issues.

delete some other saves.. Also go to safe mode. and theres some settings in there that will clear your cache.

Make sure you "restore file system" only if your going into safe mode. their are options on there that you seriously don't want to choose.

Check my thread in this sub-forum for more tips on lowering your crash rate. Unfortunately, these tips don't work for everyone, but they have worked for some, so it's worth a try.

I'll be back with the link.

Here it be, I also bumped the thread.

yeah. exactly what he said. Some of the settings will delete your whole harddrive. Sorry I couldn't respond in full yesterday. I had a few important things to do but I wanted to respond to your query as best as possible (and quickly) even though I didnt have much time. But aleister put it way better then I did.. saves you from searching. Also I like to add that if you had a older model playstation 3. (older in general not just model) That I do believe that since you have to periodically replace thermal gel on a CPU to keep it running as best as it can. I do believe (At least this was the case when i opened up my old YLOD ps3) that the thermal gel on the CPU was completely dry and cracked, obviously not working at max capacity. which it showed from the time i pushed the ps button it would take at least 6 to 10 seconds to load the XMB. it would stutter alot more in games. But with a new ps3 i have no problems with the same games i used to have problems with and the XMB only takes half a second to load. My new playstation 3 is less then 6 months old and is new. (my old one was used) and judging by the insides its owner never heard of compressed air... ever...SO not only follow those suggestions in that thread. But run a diagnostic on your ps3 and maybe use some compressed air. It really sounds like your ps3 is about to die...
