TeamBased SMART

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:58 pm

My friend and I were talking bout how cool David Belle and Daniel Ilabaca(sp?) would work well with each other so why not have it happen in BRINK its team based ideas.

Have it where if a character runs up a wall a guy on a ledge could grab his hand and throw him the rest of the way up, would help Heavies get to higher places.

Or say jumping a gap a pole is midway, have a character hanging and traqese his teammate across to the other side.

i mean the idea is limitless i just thought it was cool

A light toss a heavy? No one tosses a dwarf heavy.

lol not really toss just carry the momentum or have two lights grab the heavy and swing him

its doable but you would have to think it through i thought it was cool but it would be mostly to clear a space or lights use to it get to the high route just a bit faster jumping off a heavies back or something

I think you'd break a couple of bones just even trying.

I like the idea, but the problem is that the character who's preparing a team-based SMART move will be stuck in one position and cannot do anything unless they call the move off. Plus, you'd need to designate to exactly who can do the trick. It'd svck if a Medium was preparing to jump off a Heavy to get to a normally impassible gap and at the last second a Light cancels the co-operation by intercepting and using SMART off of the Heavy instead.

well i'd just want it too be a little more realistic then things like RE5 co-op points where Chris pretty much just lawn darts Sheva too the other side, it would be neat like things at walls just simply pulling the other guy up but he musn't be 2 sizes bigger i.e.)Light-medium ,Medium-Light or Heavy,Heavy can pull up anything very quickly and launch up the lights. i think this would be good do you want the light too fly up and take off, or do you want the heavy to lug himself up there clear the LZ and launch the light into further combat increasing his momentum.

It's a nice idea, reminds me of how co-op worked in Chaos Theory. Howver, I think it'd only work with AI, I don't see players sticking around to help people up on ledges, unless it's a slow paced game like CT.

That's actually not a bad idea. It would open up new levels of interactivity with your team. But I think it should be only 1 bodysize up. For example a light can pull up a medium and a medium can pull up a heavy. That makes more sense than a light and heavy. The heavy would accidentally pull the lights arm off. They should give you like 30 xp helping your teamates access different areas . Oh and it should take some of your ability bar to do.

Could work.

Might work better if it was based on the larger body types and set as one of the purchased abilities. So a heavy can boost anyone, mediums can boost mediums and lights, lights can boost lights, with the same for pulling a guy up. So the heavy boosts a heavy with the same ability up, and then he turns and pulls the first heavy up.

I was just posting the extremes of what you could do. Yes I know a single light couldn't help a heavy but 2 would be possible but would leave them more open. Again just posting the extremes to show them.

The more capable limits would be amazing and pretty cool. Plus to jump off someones back wouldn't require them to do much honestly the smart could register them as just another obsticle. Heck a heavy firing at some guys then a light coming out and leaping off him would be cool gameplay lol but would take to much to do honestly but I'm just suggesting random stuff

I figured to combine the team work and smart would just solidify more of the game

Which is the initial problem.

SD want to avoid canned animations.

That's why making it a learned ability might make more sense, as several of the active abilities seem to have animation sets already. It would remove it from the SMART system and make it a teamwork based activity instead.

That sounds awesome! you mean like Army Of Two type teamwork right? like helping each other climb over stuff that you can't normally get over?

Ultimately I don't like this concept. Heavies need to stay on the ground where they belong.

Sounds cool but in practice would require uncanny amounts of teamwork, timing, and it would be so complex only the best of friends could pull it off. IMO

Hey, as a Heavy (it's funny because in real life I'm a 130 lb. string bean), I find that mildly amusing. :disguise:

I think of Army of two style of team play for the ledges, I could see a medium help a heavy but not a light, think of Tyson and Rios, Rios is definitely more of a medium build.

Would be technically difficult , especially online. It might work in SP , but even then it would still be tricky ...
