RAGE Rating?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:29 am

Hey guys,
I was wondering what RAGE will be rated. What do you guys think? I know in 2008 (or maybe 07) they announced that they were aiming for a T-rating. Your guys' input?

Thanks,
G

If you watch the videos, it shows a substantial amount of blood, case in point: http://www.rage.com/us/media/media-videos

If it's anything like past works of theirs (Doom, Quake), it'll likely be a Mature rating here in the United States. Elsewhere? Probably a 17+ or 18+ rating, at minimum a 16+.

Yeah, in that video you can definitely see a good amount of blood. Who knows what ESRB will say though. I was surprised that Brink was rated T after watching one of the trailers.

True, but the windstick can cause a significant amount and possibly dismemberment.

EDIT: You also gotta keep in mind that gore and blood aren't the only things, of course. Generally, the cause of Mature ratings goes something like this, from most effect to least effect:

1). sixual Acts
2). Blood and Gore
3). Heavy Cursing (F-Bombs and the like)
4). sixually suggestive stuff
5). Drugs and/or Alcohol
6). Other suggestive themes

It has more blood and gore than Call Of Duty games and probably more cursing. Keep in mind that the environment the devs are going for is that kind of gritty atmosphere, fool of blood, swearing, and (possibly) sixual stuff, even if not shown directly.

All in all, it's shaping up to be a fairly mature game. Only time will tell.

I bet It might be going toward the M side.

They could tone the blood and aim for the T rating, since they will make more money that way, like what Brink has done.

It was going to be M then they took out the swear (Curse) words [censored] And some other minor details and It was enuff to get it brought down to T.

Yeah, that would definitely bring in more profit. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait and see.

Actually, during the PAX demonstration, they said they might tone up the gore a bit because of the positive response to it.

Its hard to predict the rating these boards will give anyway, sometimes downright brutal games get a T or 12+ or sth, and sometimes a game gets an M or 18+ rating thats essentially the same as every T shooter out there.

I'm hoping for M... If this is a T rated game then the post-apocalyptic brutallity would be turned down a few notches and that's just not fun.

In a world where there are mutants and humanity is barely getting by there would be cannibalism and morbid acts, which just aren't allowed in T games.

I'm pretty sure RAGE will be a "Mature" rated game just do to the fact that at PAX the response for the blood and gore was so highly applauded, but what do I know.

Yeah im betting mature, but im hoping for teen, it would make it more accesible to younger kids, bring more profit in, and make the community last longer, or just be bigger.

I'm wanting a Teen rating, but if it's M, well it's M, what can I do...from all the Vids and stuff that I have seen, it will probably be M. But ''jorg'' does make a good point. Whatever happens it's a buy for me.
