Why a Demo?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:39 am

I think it would be a great benefit to have a demo for Brink. Not only would people get to see what a great game you have to offer, but also help prepare for game release server problems. I am so sick and tired of the last few multiplayer games that have come out. You cant join with your friends and if you get lucky after waiting 20 minutes and get into a game, there is no one there and you wait another 20 till it fills, you get kicked out 2 minutes into the game. This is a big multiplayer game and i would expect these things to work, even early on. Let us stress test this thing before it hits the shelves. People will get a taste of your game and you get to work on some issues that were unforseen. win/win.

I don't think a demo is needed. It obviously doesn't help improving server-issues (see Crysis 2), but only to scare people off (which I don't hope would be the case here).

There were demos at conventions such as Pax, but as far as a demo for everyone, no.

They already said there won't be a demo before launch. They are in the final phases of getting the game ready for launch. Even after it goes gold, there is not enough time with the approval process* to get a demo out in time. There might be one after the game launches, but don't expect to see one before.

*I mainly mean consoles here, although I'm sure Bethesda has one as well.

A demo just isnt going to happen no matter how many people want it.

I'm glad though because if the focus on that the actual game will have less time to be tuned up for release.

PS there's been many demo threads no need to start another.

There have been way too many of these.....

Anyway, Demos can be part of an unfinished product and if it svcks, people will think the final version of the game svcks. Also, most people would rather have a better final game than get their hands on an unfinished demo.

For the reasons those said above...and because

the Gears 3 beta will be out during the same time if they did release one now...BRINK will be amazing but going against a game that is in its 3rd installment would be unwise on there part wouldnt get much playtime except by all of us

As much as I would't mind having this game, i'm not gonna blow 60$ on it without having a good view of it, hands on! I mean, look at other big releases to be in 2012 like la noir. I really want to check that customization mode out. It looks rather ugly, not the options, but the faces and such.

Give or take. People complaining that they are tired of waiting for Brink when some of us have been waiting for quite a bit longer.

Everyone likes attention so they complain that is all it is, answering them is just feeding into it. They haven't had to wait as long...i remember finding out erly 2010 and not having any info on it

If we get a demo then EFFIN awesome if not its a month til then, like i said before i see why they dont want to put a demo out so its smarter if they dont

Cool, what ever they do is up to them. All i am saying is that BC2 did it right. One multiplayer map for like 3 weeks. and when the game came out, i was actually able to play with my friends from the get go. it was laggy, but we were playing. Black ops and homefront svcked ball sack, in this reguard and many others. Ive been looking forward to this game for as long as most, or longer. I just have high hopes and want it to work as intended from the start. It's a bad ass game, why not give people a pre view, be proud of your work. And the work is finished, its coming out in a month so it wont be some lame half way done demo. Really, it would be nice to play a little before release, but all i am worried about is having thier [censored]e straight upon release.

They'll probably release a demo couple of weeks after release.

Brink is a good and fresh-idea game that I don't need a demo to be convinced to buy it.
Plus release a demo would slow down the game making before the release.
However, that is a good idea to release a demo after the release.

P.S. I am just more worrying about the system requirement than the demo release.

I already know there wont be a demo. But if there was one, I don't see how releasing a demo one week before the game comes is a bad idea. By that time, the game should be finished.

Demos and entire games are too very different builds... If the entire game is relatively sleek and bug-free, but the demo had some rather embarrassing and ruinous bugs in it, the customers and critics would already be conditioned to dislike the final product.

They have a month or so left... let's leave them to their work. :)
