Free animation programs like Flash? : Othor Games

I can't afford Flash CS5/CS4/etc but I really want to make flash-like animations. I tried Pencil but it's not much like Flash at all and I didn't really like how it worked.

Do you guys know of any programs?

If you are in college they should have an open computer lab with the software on it which is free to use for students, they might even offer a discount with Adobe for it.
