I can't find a folder I put all my miscellaneous desktop items in. I searched my computer and tried finding it all the ways I know. I still can't find it, so I can only assume I accidentally deleted it and emptied the trash. So can anyone recommend some good file recovery programs?

Note that when using fiel recovery software, it's pretty much required to recover the files to a different partition than you are trying to recover from (or else you run the risk of overwriting the files you are trying to recover)

Would a USB be fine?

if it has enough space free. The one downside to PhotoRec is there is no way to control how many files it recovers, it just recovers everything it can.

Recuva didn't find it, however shadow explorer did. Thanks for the help.
