Ive browsed around a bit and I like everything that i see about Brink but i havent seen any melee of the sort. Is that in this game? And if it is please tell me its the butt end of your gun that takes like 3-4 hits instead some cheap knife to the chest.

Yes. All guns except the knife us the gun butt and that is additionally a knockdown. Only players using a knife that isn't OHK except on an unbuffed light.

if ya have a pistol you have a knife (free hand)

Knives are for pistols only, and with other weapons it's the butt end. This may be out of date or removed to the game, but there may be a shove mechanic as well. You can also do a slide into an enemy that will knock him down briefly.

Will the knife be a one hit kill apposed to the butt?

I don't think it's OHK, but it does more damage than the gun butt and doesn't knock back the enemy so you can get a second strike in quickly.

Although with ground finishing moves it makes me wonder which will be more effecient as far as killing.

All two-handed weapons hit with a gunbutt swing, all pistols have a knife.


Gunbutt swing does less damage and knocks the enemy on thier [censored].
Knife stab does much more damage (not enough to one-hit-kill most people), but does not knock you down. Knife stabs to unbuffed lights are an instant kill, but lights are also the fastest bodytype.

If a person is knocked on thier [censored], a gunbutt swing or a knife stab is an instant kill, but doing so takes a few seconds and puts you in danger.
