Question about weapon mods

I searched and didn't find a mention of it but is there only 3 mods per gun or a larger selection and we can only choose 3?

You know, it's very unclear. I could have sworn one of the devs posted something about this on another thread. I think you might actually be able to choose from a larger pool of mods. Probably not much larger, but still large enough to have a relatively well customized weapon.

The 3 I recall being mentioned are obvious mods. And probably the most effective maybe??

I believe scope, larger magazine, faster rate of fire? Maybe there's another mod to increase accuracy?

Don't forget the silencer.

A cool attachment would be a light mounted under your gun, to make a blinding effect to enemies reducing their accuracy. But then of course the pipboy has a light for dark rooms/tunnels.

I'm going to say this once and only once...the pipboy light is a joke and a disgrace.

one of the things I suspect is that you may have options to "pimp" your gun

for example some guns may allow you to add (or replace) the stock on it with
folding stock (lighter for thoes guns that have a non folding stock, or a slight + bonus to hit when focused or in vats on guns that dont have stocks (some smgs)
hard stock (more "health" for the gun)

Barrel/mechanim mods/ swapouts may allow guns to shoot further or last longer or have a higher rate of fire or reduce "spread"

there also seems to be a "Pimp my gun" mod to make guns look "beter" (may add + cha for the blinged out guns, or + stealth for camoflage painted guns)
