Fallout NV with and without mods

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:46 am

Heyho,

Ive been playing for a while (= more then one playthrough and hardcoe etc.) and now after all this time i started using mods.

They are awesome (at least some)! With the right mod this game becomes so much more.
Be it a new Radio station, Nights that feel "dark" vor a change or just balancing regarding guns and energy weapons... This game gets a whole mile better.

I guess i just got excited after trying the Zombie-mod, but i really would like to encourage all players to try those.

As i am myself are nothing more then a newfound and hyped fan i dont have that much insight, but to those more familiar:
Anything you can recommend? Things i shouldnt miss?

I myself have many mods running at the moment. I vowed I would install any mods until I finished my first play through.....That never happened. I think the mods from the community though are what makes these games so great. Many thanks to the mod community to give this game the replayability it has.

Some mods, ie New Vegas Bounties are actually better than some dlc that is now offered by some of these games, and most of them are free!

Edit: not quick enough with the keyboard.....My thought exactly!

While mods can add much more to the game for PC users, the Console users are left out in the dark sadly because Microsoft and Sony will not allow user made mods to be available for the consoles.
That I think is at least partially due to possible unforeseen problems due to mod/DLC/Patch/Source Code conflicts where something added by one breaks something in another, plus the testing for them could be a potential nightmare and lastly there's the lack of ability for the user to troubleshoot problems on the consoles.

As for things to recommend or that you shouldn't miss, that all depends on what you prefer/like/dislike as everyone's tastes are at least slightly different from everyone elses. Having said that probably something like NV interiors (at least once it's done, if it's not already finished) which lets you get inside a lot more structures and adds bits and pieces to the interiors as well. If you feel you're levelling too fast, there are mods which reduce the exp gained. Mods which let you take a perk per level (one that I personally wouldn't use, but am mentioning it to let you know it's there), and countless others which change the difficulty, add new weaponry, armour etc to the game.

I hear that is the main problem with modding a console....Nothing illegal here. From what Ive read it could really screw them up and essentially break the software in the console. It not like you can reinstall the OS of an xbox 360. Me personally play some games on the 360 and others on the pc. I find having the choice works well. That being said I think they should look into this option for the next gen consoles, if its a viable option.
The NV Interiors and mods that add building are some mods this game really needs. It finally opens up some of the buildings boarded up we find all to often roaming the wastes.

snip

Probably best if this part of the discussion ends now before a grumpy bear comes along and puts a big fat lock on this thread.

EDIT: @ OP http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/top/alltime.php is probably the best place for you to start looking...or you could give us a better idea of which type mods interest you most.

Because there aren't enough songs on the radio stations in the vanilla game. And, to make it even better, the songs this mod adds are the songs that many of the New Vegas quest titles are named after: They Went That-a-Way, Come Fly With Me, By a Campfire on the Trail, My Kind of Town, etc.

Made by the same guy who made the 'GNR - More Where That Came From' mod for Fallout 3.
