What mods do you guys recommend

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:01 pm

I never played FO3 on PC, but for New Vegas I'm making an exception because of the wealth of mods out there. In addition, I also want to dabble with machinima and see where that goes.

So my question I have is, what mods do you guys recommend I should get that I can use for both playing purposes, and machinima purposes? For example, when I mean the latter, I mean what kind of mods are essential if you're making machinima (if there are any).

Thanks!

edit: if this is in the wrong section, i apologize.

Its hard to say, Theres some fantastic mods coming along.
But the one that has peaked me so far is:
New vegas bounties http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37310
Its allows you to indulge your inner Bobba Fett.

oh damn...this actually falls in line with what I want to do with the machinima I had in mind...well, kinda anyways. this does seem like it would be pretty cool though. the concept itself kind of reminds me of RDR's capturing of bounties.

I would have to say Nevada Skies, it adds weather and much better skies. New Vegas Bounties, Goodthings in Goodsprings is a nice player house with a few extras. Military expansion and populated casinos. There are so many too list...

This is a good start. Some of the mods mentioned are there also:

Have fun. Mods are like potato chips....you can't just have one.

Hoverboard, for travelling faster
Energy Boost, to make energy weapons useful
Euclid C-Finder Fix, to fix C-Finder bugs
Bartertown, to adjust barter prices to be more challenging

Yes, these are all mine :D but they're all I use. I can't speak for graphics mods since my computer can barely run the game out of the box.

After you've played the game and just want to enjoy sandbox play, Real Time Settler and Wasteland Defense can be fun for your creative side, allowing you to literally create your own settlements anywhere in the Wastes. I suppose they could also be used to build 'sets' for your machinima projects.

Best advice is to play it and beat it once normally. Then go and look for mods that fix the stuff you didn't like.

You dare misspell the name of the great Fett? :stare: It's Boba! One B!

Seriously though, New Vegas Bounties is a fantastic mod, one of the best questmods I've seen actually and I've been using mods since the mod community for Morrowind was just getting off the ground.

If you're looking for a house for your character, then allow me to shamelessly plug two of my own, you can find both in my signature and they both fit into the world. I don't make mansions or top secret millitary bunkers, I make houses that ardinary people struggling to survive in the wastes would build or inhabit, and I've got two for NV so far. One is in the abandoned shack outside Goodsprings, the other is a completely new building in Primm. The latter takes the scavenging theme to an extreme and is filled with all kinds of junk and loot, there's not even a whole bed, just a matress on top of some sheet metal and cinder blocks.

They both come with stoves that work with survival crafting, mirrors that allow you to alter your hair/facial hair and workbenches/reloading benches.

As I said, it really depends on what kind of mod you're looking for.
